Confirmed on my work laptop.

I am back home now. On this PC (where I also run beta versions), I got the
pop-up saying a new version is available, but the installation failed. I guess
the buggy new version has been taken off the server?

By "sync", do you mean we can check our email on Outlook365 with TheBat! again?

Attachment preview

2023-03-27 Thread Thomas Fernandez ML
Hi TBBETA,

The attachment preview is a nice feature and has its advantage in some
circumstances.

However, in other (most) situations, I want to open the attachment (for example
a PDF or Excel file) in the associated app, not in the preview. The moment I
click on the attachment, TB! changes focus from the message to the attachment
preview. This is annoying, as I want to see the message on one screen, and the
relating attachment on the other. There is no sense in viewing preview and the
full attachment at the same time.

How do I turn this automatic switching to the preview tab off? It annoyingly
interrupts my workflow, as I always have to click back to the HTML tab.

Sorry, not fixed.

Steps to reproduce:

Reply to an email that uses a different font from our settings for replies. I
have set this email to Calibri 11 now. My standard font is Times New romand 1.

Start replying. Calibri 11 will be used.

Hinter a few times to create empty lines.

Go up with the mouse to start writing in one of the empty lines.

Font has changes to Times New Roman 10.

I have download the .eml in your bug report and see an empty email with an
part.att attachment. Opening that attachment in Notepad shows HTML code.

I have seen HTML emails in which some of the text (usually, the reply) is
displayed, and the signature and previous messages are in a .html attachment.
Is that related?

No, it didn't work. OAUTH is still greyed out. when created this email based on

I just created a new account at Google, and OAUTH was not greyed out. So it

Creating a new account based on Google: No POP3 option in TB! anymore

2022-11-03 Thread Thomas Fernandez ML
Hi TBBETA,

I just created a new account based on Google, and the server has two options:
POP and IMAP. I want to use POP (that's my preference, I don't want to discuss
this), but it defaulted to IMAP in TB!. I tried a couple of times, but TB! does
not even ask me how to set up the incoming server.

I have other Google accounts with which I use POP, so it was possile in the
past. What is going on?

10.2 HTML editor Access Violation

2022-10-14 Thread Thomas Fernandez ML
Hello TBBETA,

I often receive this AV when using the PureHTML editor:

When I click it away, it comes up again. The trick is to hit "enter" to make it
dgo away, and then save the message as draft into Outbox with the mouse with
the otehr hand. Can't do both with the mouse, because I am not fast enough.
Then I can re-open it from the Outbox and continue editing.

Happens several times a day. I have not detected a pattern yet. Does anybody
see the same?

happened:

Note: I did not see any announcement on this list about 10.2.1.

10.2 no-update

2022-09-30 Thread Thomas Fernandez ML
Hello TBBETA,

I received a big pop-up this morning that 10.2 is available, and there was also
a changelog and an "update now" (or so) buttom. Did that, and the update just
hung forever:

No activity in the task manager:
I could only kill it by task manager, and the update never took place.

Yes, this did the trick! Thanks for the workaround.

I still consider it a bug, as we cannot expect unsuspecting users to go through
this process.

I just had a change of font. Using the HTML editor a lot, this was only the
second time. I cannot put my finger on any reason yet, but maybe someone else

OK, here is the thing: All other programs when opened from the task bar icon
will be present at the same position, meaning the sqaure icon is just being
replaced with a wider icon.

TB! acts differently: When opening from the square taskbar icon, the wider icon
(which indiucated the program is open) will be added to the right. So the small
square icon stays were it is, and I have an additional wide icon to the right.

I think this is some instrucution to Win10 within TB!'s code: "add to right of
taskbar" instead of "use existing icon".

I find this annoying. Any confirmations?

If off-line work is not possible with TB!v10, it is not a viable software for
me. I often work offline and create or reply to emails, and hope to have
internet connection later on to send these emails out, when in countries like
Myanmar.

I use a POP-clientm for the very reason that webmail is not an option in those
countries: I would have access to email only when online.

Sorry, this is an absolute show-stopper for me.

And I totally agree with this. This is a no-no. Furthermore, I read that he

Replies to HTML messages freezing TB!

This is a problem which I have had with many version, even before the new HTML
engine. When I hit reply on some HTML messages, TB! freezes for a couple of
seconds. This is annoying an interrupts the work flow.

I have now noticed that the problem is that the Disk usage, as measured by the

Can anybody confirm this? - I will send an offending message to Stefan by PM,

I cannot reproduce that, as I get the botton on the right of the email's header
pane.

Please check Tools / Image Download Manager / Rules / Download Mode.

Here it is set to Explicitely Allowed. I just tried for the fun of it to set it
to Manually, and then the Image Download Manager disappered from the email
header.

By the way, I don't think it should disappear. If the user choosen to manually
download, he should be given the botton to do that.

The solution was to move this folder from one email account to another. So,
there is some problem with the other email account, I will try to find out what
it may be.

07-Aug-21, 10:58:44: SEND - connected to SMTP server

I tried many times, also restarted my computer, with the same result. The
connection either times out after less than a second (I hear the error sound),
or something in TB! gives instruction to cancel the message. I also deleted the

Still happening in 9.4.2.12. Since it is highly interruptive rather than just
annoying, I call it a bug now rather than a wish.

It is obviously a Google problem, and at next attempt to checking the mail, it
might work. So there is absolutely no need to ask me to change the password. It
is in the most rate circumstances that a passport needs to be changed in TB!,
so there is absolutely no need to make this pop-up window system modal.

I now have choicxes, such as "Download images for this message" and "Download
images" (which I assume means all images for all messages).

So to be precise, my suggestion is to add a choice "Always download images from
this sender". And then this sender will be added to the IDM. I htink this is
how it worked in the past.

Still present in 9.4.2.11.

TB! is running in the background and I am working on other stuff, for which I
need to concentrate. Every now and then, this GSuite email makes problems, I
get a system-modal pop-up window. Highly interruptive. On top of that, when I
click it away, I am moved away from my work and into TB!.

Is the only way to get work done to close TB! when I am working?

I mean the sender. We used to have an menu item for that when clicking on the
IDM in the past.

I didn't see anything like that just now. I saw a whole confusing list of URLs.
When clicking on the tab Rules, I saw some email addresses that I had
whitelisted earlier. Something like this I would expect, so that I just need to
click OK. Or, as in the past, a menu item "Whitelist this sender" in addition
to "Open IDM". Will make for increased work efficiency.

I mentioned this with consistency in mind. It's cosmetic only. All other menu

How about a button on the received message to create a rule, as we used to
have? Right now, I have a button to decide to dwonload pictures of rthis
message, and it would be good to have the choice to create the rule again, i.e.

Having to copy the URL and paste it manually into Tools / Image Download

By the way, in the drop-down menu under Tools, there is an arrow missing after

I just hit "Reply" on a message that originally has many people in the TO field.

Instead of just replying to the sender, in the TO field of the reply I see all
people who were in the original TO field.

The difference to "Reply to all" is only that in the latter, also the people in
the CC field will be included.

I went back one version to 9.4.2.9 and found the same behaviour.

Confirmations?

I would find that too complicated, but I don't need to use it.

All I ask for is what we had earlier: A choice of downloading images for this

Yes, I have experienced that. It's an expansion of the "jumping cursor

In the viewer, after receiving this message back, there was no hard LF after
"OK,". Now that means the editor and the viewer do not show the same. I clicked
on the HTML icon, and there is indeed no hard LF. The editor is not WYSIWYG.
Bug.

I again see a hrd LF after '"OK,' but the second " is on the nexct line...
weired.

Also, in the viewer there are no soft line breaks, the lines in the incoming
message just go on outside the screen and I have to scroll to read them. Bug.

Not fixed. I just tried with a message in German: Reply is fine, Forward is
HTML code.

I also mentioned earlier (mid:298798343.20210720175...@gmx.net) that is does
not work with a message in Thai language. It does work with other messages in

Yes indeed. I found v9.3.4 and v9.4.0 in the app list. It appears that when I
upgraded to 9.4 the old version was not fully uninstalled when installing the
new version with the .msi file.

I can understand that Win10 does not recognise the beta version I am using, as
I only manually overwrote the .exe file.

Not fixed HTML bugs:

https://bt.ritlabs.com/view.php?id=2144 Internal links in HTML message are not
being followed (HTML viewer)
https://bt.ritlabs.com/view.php?id=2147 Font change in HTML emails (HTML editor)
https://bt.ritlabs.com/view.php?id=2142 Jumping cursor when replying inline to
HTML messages (HTML editor)

With these bugs still unfixed, I will not use a verison with the new HTML
editor on my work laptop, and I cannot recommend to any non-tech user to
upgrade.

I tried to reply inline to an HTML message yesterday and it was so much
headache with the jumping cursor that I ended deleted the draft and creating a
new reply using top-posting, which means the new HTML editor is still not
usable.

Changing fonts in a business email look highly unprofessional, and also makes
the new HTML editor unusable in a business environment.

Not following internal links (which are quite typical in newsletters) makes the
user think his mouse is broken, or - and they will be right - their email
client is.

Kindly fix these bugs to make TB! a professional tool again that normal people
can use in the office. Thanks.

Thanks, i confirmed the bug.
Can you tell me where to set/define the different styles?
See attached jpg
My styles icon has disappeared, and the default font is called "S", a font I don't want to use:
I wonder how this even happened. I might have hit some crtl-combo again - how can I adjust the default font again? If I highlight the whole empty space from "Hello" to "Best regards" in my reply and then choose Courier New 11, the moment I start typing text in the middle, it will back to that horrible default.  Note: It happens when I reply to HTML messages. It does not happen with this message, as I am replying to a plaintext message, I just changed the editor manually to HTML.
I just replied to a message from Japan, and they must have used some Japanese font. Upon Reply, the editor showed this font:Going back to my previous report above, showing the "S" font, that happens with replies to email received from China. So, the font that TB! uses is the font of the original message. I'd prefer an option in the HTML editor settings "Use same font as incoming message [ ]" where, if not ticked, the default font is used. That said, I still cannot change the font to anything else for more than one line, and I still don't have the "Styles" icon. Does anybody else miss the Styles icon, or is it only me? When I was first made aware of it, it was there. Now it is gone. Am I the only one? --

I made the link by myself; I copied and paste the mid from the headers and
added "mid:" in front. How did you paste with "mid:", as it is not in the
incoming mail? The HTML viewer should recognise the link evenif "mid:" is added
manually, as the plaintext viewer does.

Secondly and more importantly, I clicked on the link and TB! was "Not
Responding" any more, i.e. I had to kill it with the task manager.

Well, it works in the plaintext viewer but it does *not* work in the HTML
viewer. I see the message number highlighted and clickable, but nothing happens.

My suggestion is to make it work also in the HTML viewer.

This is a different issue (and should probably be honoured with a separate
email thread). crtl-space does show the QTs over here, at least in this
plaintext editor. I just tried with the HTML editor, once I got an access
vilation, the second time it worked without a problem.

Annoying pop-up window

2021-07-10 Thread Thomas Fernandez
Hello TBBETA,

I have one email account which is really a GSuite account. This means, most of
the time there is no problem but every so often, Google does not let me check
new mails with POP. TB! will then show a pop-up window, asking me to key in the
password (apparently, Google said it was wrong) and whether I want to update
the account data.

No problem with that. The problem is that it is system nodal (I think this is
the technical term), meaning that it will be on top of all other windows in my
Win10. I maybe working on a Word file. So, I click on "cancel" and what happens
is that the Windows focus switches to TB!, and that is really interruptive and
breaks my stream of work.

This is annoying. I want the focus to stay in the Windows app I am currently
using and not go to TB! after I click "cancel". Preferrably, I don't even want
the pop-up to show at all until I switch to TB! by myself.

Any supporters for this wish?

Thomas.

The problem is not the font, the problem is your display. Anyway, I am using Lucida Console now. The problem of this font is with my eyes - I don't like it.
Going back to Courier New. ;-)

Change of font in the middle of the email is back:
Changing from Calibri 11 (that was the font of the email I was replying to) to Courier New 10 (my own standard) from one paragraph to another without reason. It happens only sometimes and I haven't found a pattern yt. It does not look good in business emails. Even if I highlight the whole reply and choose a font and size, it changes again. It seems to be random, sometimes hitting triggers that, and just now it changed in the middle of a line to my default font and size.
Confirmations?

I think this should be easy to fix, once the developers look at the code and find where the default font and size is triggered.

Using shift-crtl-V:

Using right-click / Paste: Netflix
Using right-click / Paste as Plain Text:

Nothing is greyed out here, works as intended. Well, except that it adds a LF
before the text when pasting in plain text, but I consider that cosmetic.

You do not use a footer (sig) showing your TB! and Windows versions. It would

I see you don't have staff in your office who would click on any attachment,
especially when it ways "invoice" or "payment". I am in the logistics industry,
and we received targeted emails with malware payment; called "vessel delay
notice" or "shipping documents" which are subject and attachment names we
received legitimately regularly.

I have also encountered websites of government ministries were I had to look up
something and avast! sounded an alarm because the website had some malware it
wanted to download onto my computer. I don't click on suspicious links, but
legit URLs can be infected too.

So, please don't tell me that AV software has no use. Thanks.
