OK, so you have succeeded in importing it as an HTML message.

Set TB so that I does not automitically display HTML:

Options / Preferences / General / [ ] Display HTML...

needs to be unticked. When you now look at the message, you find the
message text in the preview pane, and an HTML attachment. Richt-click
on the attachment, and choose Delete. Your message is now normal.

the filter for flagging has actioned I guess...

Being able to copy a flagged email to an export/store directory when
you flag it (and leaving the orginal in place) would be so useful.

I'm asking because I want an easy way to make a copy of flagged
emails (and also replies to me- which I've already done) to be ready
for export to zoot (www.zootsoftware.com) but really it would be
useful for any archiving software.

Spam filter

2001-11-14 Thread Joseph N.

I never paid much attention before in email client mailing lists to
discussions about spam filters because my spam was negligible. It has
recently increased, though, presumably due to my email address being
on a web site. Now I'm wondering about all those articles. What is
the concept behind filtering for spam? Is it to filter out known spam
sending addresses, or to filter out mail that has or does not have a
particular string? Has anyone here had much success? I need to have
a zero risk of false positives.

I think most of us filter good addresses and assume rest are SPAM.
Of course is necessary to *not* delete assumed SPAM for a few days,

I knew someone would ask about Linux.. its not that i dont like it...
I havent actually EVER seen it in operation.. but i dont want to
install it mostly of fears of it looking like DOS or something... also
it would require some time to Get used to a whole new OS.

Also a 1 GIG download over 56k isnt my best bet either. i dont know

Also, on your comment about Opera, its actually REALLY good to be able

1:0 for Microsoft: Users are familiar with Windows, that's why they
will stick to it. You have just confirmed MS's policy of making PC
vendors install Windows on each machine by default, is actually good.

K but i dont want to install it mostly of fears of it looking like
K DOS or something...

DOS looks a bit like unix, is more like it. However, the Linux
distributions with GUI (that make me shudder) try to look like
Windows.

K also it would require some time to Get used to a whole new OS.

Correct. If you are serious about your first posting, this is what you
invest: time. Just saying Microsft is bad, I want to avoid it and
then chickening out of throwing it out, is wasting bandwidth.

K Also a 1 GIG download over 56k isnt my best bet either. i dont know
K anyone with Disks of Linux.

Check again. Mandrake, SuSE, RedHat: everybody will send you the
disks.

And, AFAIK, you can even use your beloved Opera under Linux (somebody
correct me if I'm wrong). ;-)

R Actions:

TF OK, this needs to be translated. Why are some action fa and others

fa - Stands for Filter Action
fao - Filter Action Option

TF fao? What is faoHKCheckMsg? And these:

So faoHKCheckMsg - Would refer to Filter Action Option Hot key Check the Message
against this rule - And in this case the tick box selected under the Hot Key in
options

TF faoAdvAddressOut,faoAdvNoGroups - what exactly do they mean?

The first part I am lost but the second part is the rule to check that the
address should NOT be in the address book.

R AddAddrItems: afiFrom,
R DelAddrItems: afiFrom,

I guess these are default entries...Depends on what has been activated.

TF Does this look contradictory?

R NoAddrGroups: fg

This is to check that the Address is NOT present in address book group called
'fg'

Has this thrown some more light ???

Re: Opera Users beware

Dear PFord,

Opera Users beware

If you check Use external programme and specify it, everything
 works alright.

Not for me and some others. Using the external program option will get
The Bat to open, which the system default option does not, but a new
 mail message is not created.

On my System it works 'very' fine (Opera v6.0b1). I past you what I
have written in the field:

Tick --- Use specific eMail client
  d:\...\Bat!\thebat.exe mailto:%
Tick also -- Replace missing parameter with a space

You got the same?

best regards
