Sorry, but it doesn't do that here. Win7, SP 1. I just ran the
Win updates, FWTW.

Ignore the sig. I have no idea where TB! is finding it, but it's
not the sig the template points to. Thanks, though!

If you are on XP it will have to drag to the quick launch section on the far
left next to the start button. This works for 7 and 8

Note that The Bat now uses its old icon for the task bar and its new
one for the desktop - 2 different icons for the same program.

Actually you have to drag the shortcut all the way down into
the task bar before you'll see that "pin to task bar"
message. If the task bar is accessible with the window from
whence it came still open, you can just drag it straight
down into the task bar from that window. I didn't know if

don't really have to drop the shortcut on the desktop first

Jack, I just did all that.

Filemgr - TB!folder - thebat!.exe - right click. Make shortcut.
Copy shortcut (drag) to desktop - right click

No links to 'pin to ..' anything at all, not on the task bar, not
on the menu, not from the icon on the desktop, nor from the icon
on the taskbar after TB! is loaded. In fact, before sending this,
I just went to the file manager and checked to make sure those
links wouldn't appear on the .exe icon, on right clicking it. I'll
check again after closing TB!, but I don't expect anything
different.

Some of this stuff may be WinDoze being 'helpful', but I'm not
discovering anything there, either.

The weird thing is that now TB! and some other packages are
loading at much lower resolution than they were, or probably
should be. I'll pick the brain of the guy who loaded the system
here this time. I never used to let anyone load my systems, and
maybe I need to go back to that, but he really is very much more
knowledgeable than I, and he offered ... and it was a gift, and
one shouldn't look gift horses in the mouth, should one? Or have
they changed that rule since I was in school ..?

lol! I do appreciate the help, though. It really is beginning to
seem like anything I touch goes badly south these days.

Cheers!

The only one requiring it seems to be TB!. I'll try later when I

Actually, mine is very much simpler, but this is NOT the sig
which is indexed to this folder. Yes, I use the macros, yes, it
worked, not for months or a couple of versions, for YEARS.

I haven't had a chance to dig around and find out where it's
getting this file, or why it isn't honoring the links in the
templates. It takes so long to plow through the mail and file it
manually that I haven't got there yet. Nor to the filters.

But it would be a help not to have to load it manually every

Well, I might be able to help with some of this stuff. Lets
try getting a TB! shortcut on your task bar. First, close
all open windows on your desktop. Second, if you're running
Win 7, go to START+COMPUTER. When the window opens up
double-click LOCAL COMPUTER, then double-click PROGRAM FILES
(x86), locate and open (double-click) the folder THE BAT!,
right-click on TheBat.exe. From the menu which appears
choose CREATE SHORTCUT. A TB! shortcut
(TheBat.exe-shortcut) will appear below TheBat.exe.
Left-click and drag that shortcut to your desktop and drop
it there. Close all open windows, left-click and drag the
shortcut down into the task bar and release. A dialog box
should appear saying "pin to task bar" which it now should
be. Now delete the shortcut remaining on your desktop as
it's no longer necessary. That's how I got my TB! shortcut
onto my task bar. The same can be done for any program on
your computer.

As far as the sudden slooowness, I can't help there.
Your sig, maybe. My sig looks like this:

The macros (all preceded with a percent sign) will supply
the correct information when you select the template you're
going to use. As to where TB! gets the template to use, as
there are several places to create templates, that's a
secret known only to select grand masters of TB! I joke of
course but I always have a helluva time figuring out which
template I need to modify to accomplish any changes.

It may be that your sig(s) have text instead of macros in
them which is why they haven't changed. For one thing as
you are probably already aware, the "cut mark" has to be
DASH+DASH+SPACE+RETURN to work correctly.

There are templates in the AB of course but also in ACCOUNT
PROPERTIES and FOLDER PROPERTIES. I think that's all.
Which template gets used under which circumstances has
always been a mystery to me and I've successfully
accomplished changes only through trial and error (mostly
error).

Hope some of this helps.

I can't either. At all. I've tried every way I could think of.
The links don't come up, period. Every time it has to be started
with a 'search for software' .

It's annoying, but less so than the filters, the sig files, the
sudden sloowness ... those are dealbreakers.

Still fighting for it, but running out of steam. This sig, for
instance, must exist on my system somewhere, but it is NOT
current. I'm running Win7 at SP 1, or thought I was, and TB! is
now at 5.8.10 for a certainty .. unless the install failed
catastrophically with no messages, but put the old version up.
Where'd it get it from??? Sig files are hard linked in the
folder/address templates!

Hanging in ...

Upgrade from 5.8.2 to 6.0.10

Hello Greg,

I replied via TBUDL but as nothing has appeared on that list I'm now
resending my reply direct:

GS> 3) Has anybody upgraded to the 64 bit version of TB without problems?
In my computer it is unuseable. It will not send or receive messages. There is
still a lot to be done.

The 32 bit version is useable but at this stage gives little or no advantage
over version 5.8.10.

I give next a copy of what Maxim said when alpha testing started:

What's new in this ALPHA (English):

1. Support of IDN (Internationalized Domain Names) in email addresses.

2. The Bat! version 6, unlike previous versions, is a fully-Unicode
application. This gives advantages to the users that work with multiple
languages simultaneously. While previous versions worked mostly well with
multiple languages in file names, subject lines, etc., there were places
that a language different that Windows-default language “for non-Unicode
programs” might not work well in The Bat!.

3. There will be 64-bit version of thebat.exe also available alongside
32-bit version.

4. There is a new sorting office option – extract files by masks.
