Thank you for your nice reply.
In fact, I do not have a lot of details to provide, just the fact that
I have read in some places that the sb touch can be quite slow when
reading usb drives.
So I'm a bit reluctant to buy one without gathering some advices from
people who use it this way.
I am but a novice at best in this field but have read these forums quite
extensively absorbing what I was capable of. Those who have more
experience than I feel that the best way to use the Touch is w a
wireless network for increased functions, speed etc. There are many
posts in these forums regar
Use mp3tag to get rid of all the ID3v1 tags. They only cause headaches.

Did I solve my own problem by starting Squeezebox Server on my pc?
Ever since I started it, NO rebuffering!
Does this mean if I UNinstall it from my pc, I can go back to streaming
with the /touch and not have buffering issues? When I first started
using it, I did NOT have SB Server installed.
The Squeezebox has been working VERY well until fairly recently.
Now, not matter what station I put it on (so far, I'm streaming
wirelessly with it through my receiver)it almost CONSTANTLY rebuffers!
VERY annoying! How do I fix this??

The receiver status light technically doesn't show you whether or not
the server

How did you "fiddle with the tags yourself"? I recall a previous post
by someone who indicated something similar, where what he was doing was
fiddling the the file names rather than the tags (which are embedded in
the files).

Agreed that the phono input is the worst one to use. The phono input is
designed to accommodate the much lower output level produced by
turntables, as well as applying an RIAA equalization. Plugging anything
other than a turntable into the phono input is bound to sound terrible.

The built in speaker is tiny it not going to wake anyone, it's there for
beeps and blips while navigating ( can be turned of thankyou).
Touch is meant to sit in your hifi it's not the first choice for alarm
duty...

I attempted to instal this patch last night, and for the life of me
could not find the relavent parameter adjustment fields, so I assumed
that I'd messed up the patch installation.
Tonight I found that I'd been looking in the wrong place - the patch

And the solution was simply to turn on the Hard drive BEFORE plugging in
its USB cable in the SQ Touch. Duh ^^

Hello everyone,
I have two different questions regarding the Touch.
My first one concerns the alarm. I've noticed that I could set it to
ring only on week days, which is absolutely great. However, I've also
noted that I couldn't apparently make the alarm ring on the touch's
speaker.

in my opinion the touch is a very good all round performer in terms of
quality ouputs.you say you have connected to your stereo using phono
leads.this means you are using the internal dac.the dac in the touch is
better than that of the sb3.you dont say what your stereo system
consists of

You could invent a fictitious album name for them (eg, "50s Rock &
Roll"), and use that as the Album tag for all of the tracks. You could
then fill in any blank Artist tags with "Unknown" or whatever suits
your fancy. You could leave the Track numbers blank, or just assign
some arbitrary order --

I've two Touches, both trying to update FW each time switching between
local and cloud servers. Issue solved manually writing in cache folder
the cloud file, as found in the web folder here suggested. Thanks. :)

I have re-installed TT2.0 (except for disabling WLAN) after updating
SBS to 7.5.3 and can also confirm that TT2.0 is compatible with this

You want to see the signal path BEFORE it gets onto a CD/vinyl...it
ain't what you'd call minimal...
Touch(wired/XP) - TACT 2.2X (Linear PSU) + Good V
Finally had the time to look inside the problem; it seems the outsides
of the RCA's doe not touch the case properly, some manipulation of the
cables usually restores the sound; so no big problem, no risk of
short-circuiting. What a relief.
BTW, I'm listening to the Touch analogue out now for the
WARNING: It is important to be very careful and follow proper setup when
determining if it is possible to use only a Touch (or any other
Squeezebox) as a pre-amp to directly drive an amplifier. It is
important that before the amp is turned on that the Touch (or other
Squeezebox) is verified to be
Yes the Touch will drive the power amp. The amp has 32dB of gain. a
couple of volts should get it up to full blast...
You will need to fit passive attenuators between Touch and Power amp
for 2 reasons:
1) to ensure that the digital volume control is not used below 70, for
max fidelity
2) to preve
