That's what happens when using the Radeon driver without the proprietary

Hey guys, I AM leaving Trisquel. But this time, is not even because of any

OK, I had problems installing 7. It's my Mac's fault, because EFI sucks and
whenever I try to load a CD it gets ejected. I could still have tried to boot

Ah, I see. Thanks. :)
6.0.1 is just an upgrade of the CD. You can install Trisquel 6.0 and run the
regular upgrade, and that'll bring you to 6.0.1 (though it'll take a while,
since there are a lot of updates).
I think sooner or later, I will give up on trisquel too.

If it's possible to do so, it would be a BIOS option, but I don't think it
usually is.
Opening a laptop up can certainly be intimidating. Just don't pull on
anything too forcefully, and take your time. It might also help to do some
research, or ask the manufacturer for help.
I have never made any changes to the BIOS on this computer. Since I didn’t
have the issue on Trisquel 6, it can’t be a BIOS option, can it?
I'm not sure whether Gnome Flashback is maintained anywhere but Trisquel and,
maybe, Debian? Mate seems to be getting a lot more attention. Last time I
looked at a distro based on Manjaro, there was a so-called Gnome Classic,
done as shell extension(s).
I just upgraded Trisquel to the newest version.

It's an accessibility feature for blind people. Disable it in the system

Trisquel automatically enables it if the live CD is booted and recieves no

Please don't recommend doing that. 5.5 is based on 11.10 , which reached EOL

Anyway, 6.0.1 should be fine and is still supported.
No, I mean, there might be an option in the BIOS to disable the Radeon card
so you don't have to physically remove it. But probably not.

Applications-wise, wouldn't one of the Ubuntu spins like the Mate edition be

I gave Gnewsense a quick look and found, immediately, that everything is so
very old! I think the latest release had kernel 2.6.something; networking
