rpi is just dropping new firmware for the rpi3 wifi chip. Stability
seems to be a bit better. I personally don't have a problem, but then
my systems are quite close to my wifi router. That is probably the

Thanks Greg, yes almost certainly nothing to do with the software. it is
not the SD card, I have tried 3 of those and the same problem on each.
Probably my WiFi dongle, but I don't want to fork out for a RPi 3
without confirmation that the WiFi is good. Reason I posted here is
would be nice to confirm RPi 3 WiFi works well with pCP. Kidstypike has
given me the most encouraging answer - so will probably go with the RPi
3.

No tubes, it's a reproduction retro radio, the only thing the unit's
on/off/volume switch does now is to switch on the tuner dial lights. It
sounds a bit mediocre, but SWMBO likes it :)

hi Matt,

The symptoms you describe sound really weird. Of course the process you
go through is not "normal". Who would use software that works like
that?

I assume you are using the latest pCP 3.22.

I suspect a faulty hardware, SD card or RPi. I can't work out a software
issue that would cause the situation you describe.

I use the RPi1B so I am sure they work.

Re: [SlimDevices: Unix] MusicIP on Raspberry Pi

2018-02-12 Thread rlc999

I've come up with an approach to get what I need from my RPi/LMS setup
and MusicIP functionality. For anyone with similar interests, I'll
share it here.

I use MediaMonkey to manage my playlists. For those that I use with my
Transporter, I have a simple program that translates M3U files that
MediaMonkey can export into playlists that LMS can use on the RPI. So,
I installed MusicIP on my PC. It can send playlists/mixes to
MediaMonkey, which I can then export and translate for use with LMS.
I'm still having MusicIP fingerprint my music (I have about 9K songs),
which will take another couple days. Then, I plan to create a couple
large playlists based on specific moods/styles I'm striving for.
They'll likely be larger, i.e., potentially 5k songs. Once I get these
onto the LMS/RPi, I'll use DynamicPlaylist functionality to use them
efficiently with my Transporter. And, while the MusicIP playlists will
be static, Dynamic Playlist on LMS will seem random, by mood/mix, since
I typically only play 40 to 60 songs at a given time anyway.

So, I've accomplished my goal (or will once the fingerprinting process
completes and I can create playlists by mood/style), and avoided trying
to actually install MusicIP on my RPi.

Thanks Ronnie. I actually don't have LMS on this. I have a NAS with LMS,
this is purely a player. I imagine it is mainly down to the WiFi and
networking issues, so I am looking more for feedback as to whether
people have a good experience using piCorePlayer with the iRP3 built in
Wi-Fi. In particular whether it will restart if you pull the plug
randomly and power it up again.

@ *TheLastMan*

You might want to read this link for improved SQ of the default output.

https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=29=136445

I don't know if it would work with a rpi1b but does on a rpi3b if you
don't want to add a daughter board.

With regard to the OS, I also don't know if it will work with
piCorePlayer but it does with LMS and Squeezelite.

Use Gerrelt's excellent blog for the install

http://www.gerrelt.nl/RaspberryPi/wordpress/

If you have an Android phone you can download a simple SSH App that will
allow you to issue the shutdown cmd line instruction before you actually
switch it off at the wall. I would imagine that the is also an Apple
App.

If you look on the pCP web gui I think you can instruct LMS to wait for
the network to be up before starting (this might be causing your
problem).
Try the LMS or Tweaks tab.

Well I think it is is a portable device, so for full output the volume
control has to be turned up to 11 (perhaps you can check in alsamixer).

2018-02-12 Thread jncweb

For your information what I was seeing turned out to be a corrupt memory
card. I found out when I tried to start again, now have an old SanDisk
one. The memory card was not a great brand but if corruption caused by
picoreplayer it maybe it was the LMS Cache?

Really happy with the results, I picked this over the competition
because the logitech aspects have been commercially developed this was
really clear to me so great to use it. it is really good and really
quick!

@Man in a van
With the DAC I am using front:CARD=DAC,DEV=0. There probably is some
additional tweaking. I am confused why there is volume control when
using a usb DAC as I want my amp to handle that. I also don't think I am
getting the up-sampling you mentioned the light on the front indicates
the sample rate is 1, when I see 2X from my computer.

I also have to put the language in to the javelite interface every time
it restarts. Can this be solved by setting up the device on the screen
and then saving the settings in the web interface?

A few small things but really really happy :-)

I think that most of the XMOS covertors are OK with Linux.

When you look at the choice of outlets remember that sometimes one will
work better than another.

Following advice here, I tend to select the one begining 'hw', the one
with 'front' nearly always works and sometimes 'hwplug'

hi jncweb,

I agree with what "Man in a van" said.

The [Save] button should write the changes to the configuration file
then do a backup.

There is also a [Backup] button on the [Main Page]... to be sure!

I wonder if you have a newconfig.cfg on one of your USB devices that is
being used on reboot.

Get your Squeezelite settings first fixed first...small steps.

This is from memory, so might be a litle rusty.

Then you change to usb and click save there should be a small window
open advising to check the "Audio Output" settings are correct.

Scroll down to the next box and click on the red "more" and the page
expands to show the choice of outputs. Copy and paste the rquired one
into the box, save and then go to the main page and click on reboot.

Return to the Squeezelite page after reboot to confirm the changes.
The above advice is based on the latest version, why not upgrade?
