Given that I want to synchronise a number of existing directory
hierarchies is there any sensible way to do it with Owncloud's file
synchronisation? I don't want to move the directories, they're in the
'right' place already.

my server somewhere *and* isn't actually anything to do
with my home directory there. It consists of files/directories
stored within the Owncloud server. This wasn't at all clear to me
when I first tried to set up the Owncloud client.

I am moving my Owncloud installation from one server to another.
I can export my address book from one and import on the other but it
doesn't seem to be possible to import a calendar (though it can be
exported).

e are many tasks like this in the real world. In particular
things like company annual returns where there is quite a big time
window between when they 'can' be done and the due date (which costs
money if you miss it!).

I have just installed the Owncloud client on my Linux 14.10 laptop and
it appears to do nothing at all:-

chris$
No window pops up, no errors, nothing at all.
What should I try?

up a CalDav client synchroniser but it's much messier
to configure than just sharing a file and synchronising that. (I'm
the only user so similtaneous access from more than one place isn't an
issue)

I have lost the Owncloud indicator in my panel. The client is running
still and I can view the settings etc. by using the application menu
but it would be nice to have the indicator back.
I think it disappeared during upgrade from xubuntu 15.10 to 16.04.

Since I upgraded my xubuntu 15.10 systems to xubuntu 16.04 OwnCloud
has started asking for my OwnCloud password when I log in to the
system.
Does anyone know why this is and how I can fix the annoyance?

A lot of OwnCloud users will be like me, my server is just for me and
one or two family members. A significant downtime is not important,
ease of use (to me, the 'administrator') is important.
