Re: [SOGo] Activesync drains battery
On Friday, January 23, 2015 06:50 AM CST, Martin Simovic wrote: On 23 Jan 2015, at 10:01, Petr Mandelík wrote: 1) Works. But I have another mailbox on MS Exchange server with Push enables and it nevers falls in endless loop. Therefore there must be something wrong with SOGo. Indeed. Push *should* work without impact on battery life, unfortunately not with SOGo ATM. 2) It was me who wrote about NAT. Now after many days of testing and many other combinations of SOGo parameters I must say the problem with endless loop is much more complex and unpredictable. It is just my personal empirical observation but definitely there is no direct relation between parameters and endless loop. Sometimes it falls to endless loop even after another action. For example after adding new entry to calendar on my laptop. I think I found following workaround...if I switch off task syncing on my iPhone for a while and again switch it on, the communication "heartbeat" will slow down and goes back to the limits according SOGo parameters. In my opinion there must be something wrong in sogo deamon. Meaning how sogo server handles changes and pushing them to EAS device. Nevertheless even the setup of my iPhone has an impact on it. Maybe...just my hypothesis...when I re-enable syncing of tasks...SOGo will do some kind of initial sync which synchronize correct way my iPhone. After this action it works for a while. Ah, thanks. 3) EAS brings very significant advantage to common users...easy setup. And nothing more than that I am afraid. From any other perspective and performance impact on client/server IMAP/CalDAV/CardDAV combo is far superior, at least for the time being. RegardsMartin. It isn't just the "simple setup" that makes it useful for certain users. In our case we can only have port 80 and 443 open to the internet. So IMAP is a no go. Activesync is a great solution for this. However I have never had good luck with the sogo implementation of it. We have been using zpush on a separate server successfully since nearly the beginning of using sogo though. I just wish I could get it to work with calendars and contacts easily. I recommend setting up a completely separate vanilla machine as a test mail server with all required services (postfix, dovecot, samba4, sogo, openchange) in order to test Outlook connectivity. If you are happy with the results, you can plan a Samba3 -> Samba4 migration first (which will give you undoubtedly benefit on it’s own) followed by mail server migration (current server -> openchange). I would not bother with any black magic trying to achieve the impossible - vanilla setup is complex enough on it’s own to get it right. [SOGo] Migrating SOGo
I am trying to setup a new machine to move our SOGo installation to. I am a bit rusty as th elast one I installed from the ground up was way back in the early 1.x days. However I have followed the directions and installed all the sogo stuff, memcached, sope49-mysql, mysql, etc and configured what I can find in the docs. With this move we are also moving to our new samba domain so that has changed also. We are doing TLS security and I think I have the .GNUstepDefaults configured correctly. What I had thought would most likely be the best way to migrate is to use a sogo-tool backup on the current one, setup the new machine the way I want, then use the backup to import the data. [SOGo] Use SOGo as default Thunderbird addressbook
Is there a way with the connector and/or integrator to totally disable Thunderbirds built in address book and only use the SOGo one? [SOGo] Moving MySQL back to sogo
When we setup SOGo we simply created the mysql database on our existing server and pointed the SOGo instance to it. However in the recent days we have become suspicious of the stability of that mysql install. What would be the best way to move the install on to the sogo install? I am thinking just install mysql, use sogo-tool to do a current backup, change the sogo config to point to localhost mysql, then do a sogo-tool restore. This way I should not be dumping possible corrupt mysql data. Am I correct in thinking this way? -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

Re: [SOGo] ANN: SOGo v1.3.17
I just upgraded to 1.3.17 from 1.3.16. Now for whatever reason sogo can not find the sogo user therefor will not pull the config. It looks like it is trying to pull the "ntp" user : 2012-08-13 12:59:35.370 sogod[801] Defaults path '/etc/ntp/GNUstep/Defaults' does not exist - failed to create it. When it should be pulling from /home/sogo/GNUstep/Defaults instead. Any ideas why just a simple upgrade would have done this? If you set that signon.rememberSignons to true the end users will have a checkbox to remember password and it will not ask. I initially had that set to false but then the higher ups got tired of having to type their passwords a bazillion times so I was forced to change it to true. I have also put a file in the defaults/pref directory pointing to a .js file in the main thunderbird directory. However this file merely points to another settings file that is on our intranet web server. That way I can change the preferences globally with just one config change. I have set the extensions.autoDisableScopes to 11 but it still will not work as it should. The global configs work beautifully but the auto install of extensions does not. -- Donny B. -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists
[SOGo] Have Thunderbird automatically install integrator
I am trying to get thunderbird to automatically install integrator. I have tried putting the .xpi file in the %PROGRAMFILES%\Mozilla Thunderbird\extensions\ folder named as the {extension-id}.xpi located in the install.rdf. I even tried adding a %PROGRAMFILES%\Mozilla Thunderbird\distribution\extensions\ folder and placing it there instead. I have tried putting the unzipped files from the .xpi file in the folder named the extension-id also. In my config I have added extensions.autoDisableScopes to 11 but nothing works. I am at a loss. Once I get integrator I can have it pull connector and lightning but it's just a matter of getting integrator to install automatically first. I am doing this testing manually but eventually I want to create a wpkg package that will push it out to the end users for the initial time. Anyone have any ideas on how to do this? -- Donny B. -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

[SOGo] Cannot select then unselect in web calendar
Ever since we upgraded to 1.3.15 a week ago I have had users complain about some problems in calendar of the web interface. I have been able to reproduce the issue consistently. If you open your calendar, uncheck any of the checked calendars it will go away like it should. However if you try to recheck it you cannot. Same in reverse. Plus the checkmark never goes away. You have to reload the webpage to get it to work again. I have tried multiple browsers and os's. I have cleared the cache and everything I can think of on the client pc's all to no avail. Does anyone have pointers on what to check? Donny B. -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists
[SOGo] inviting groups to meetings
Our current setup does not allow us to properly invite groups of people to a meeting or event by simply using their group email address. I figure this is due to the groups are setup in /etc/aliases on our mail server rather than in OpenLDAP. For instance if we were to send an invitation to gro...@mdah.state.ms.us for a meeting next monday they all will receive the email invitation but it shows: u...@mdah.state.ms.us is proposing a meeting to the attendees. You receive this mail as a notification, you are not scheduled as a participant. If we were to instead have the groups setup in OpenLDAP would this behaviour change and allow the individuals to accept/decline the invitation? Any pointers are welcome. -- Donny B. -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

[SOGo] SOGo with thunderbird plugins keeps asking for password
We just rolled out Thunderbird 10esr and the SOGo plugins (10.0.1) to our users. Now they are having the issue of having to type their user/pass multiple times. I have looked and it appears this is once for each calendar they have. Is there a fix for this? [SOGo] Thunderbird hang
This is a bit OT but since SOGo officially supports thunderbird plugins and all I figure there are quite a few people on this list that are running Thunderbird as their mail client. With that I have a question: How many of you have experienced the "hang" when typing in the body of a message? We have only a handful of end users, high up people though, that are experiencing the problem. Looking through the magical google ball shows me it is a known issue but hard to trace down. It supposedly has been happening since somewhere in the 3.1.X series and is still active last I checked. So I figure with that wide spread of a version range most if not all users should have experienced it. I have not seen it but 3 of the top 5 people in the agency are experiencing it. Now I am wondering if anyone has seen the probem and if they have found some other way to avoid it happening until an official fix is released. -- Donny B. -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

[SOGo] Proxy error on edit of single event within orrurance
One thing that we have noticed lately is that when a user sets up a recurring event and they try to edit just one instance within it they receive a proxy error. Specifically it states: Proxy Error The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server. The proxy server could not handle the request GET /SOGo/so/username/Calendar/edit Reason: Error reading from remote server I am pretty sure this has not been happening long but with us having end user training on Thursday of this week I would like to get it narrowed down soon if possible. [SOGo] Resource double booking on recurrance
I remember reading somewhere on the list that there was a bug when a resource was invited to a recurring event you could still double book it. I thought I read that it was supposed to be fixed in one of the recent releases but I cannot find that anywhere now. I just checked and I invited a resource to a recurring event then had another user try to book it on one of the recurring days. They were able to however it did pop up a notification on the first window but it allowed them to still save the event. So I am guessing that this bug is still active or is this intended behavior? -- Donny B.

However since I now know this I am fine doing it this way and just simply looking for email support. If we could get a complete all-in-one ActiveSync setup that worked flawlessly I would not be against using it. Since our circumstances dictate everything has to go through port 80 and/or 443 we are pretty much at the mercy of ActiveSync and similar protocols. As for you saying z-push 1.5.8 RC does "push" email, is it a true push or just polls every minute or so? -- Donny B.

Has anyone else seen similar issues? -- Donny B. After some more testing it appears the issue is z-push. I was able to add the caldav stuff directly from the SOGo server to the ipad no problem. Two-way sync works beautifully. So it appears that with the iOS 5.XX upgrade they dropped/broke support for older activesync protocol versions. The z-push version we are running, and also the same thing was posted here on this list a month or so ago, was written in 2007. So now the adventure begins to try to setup a recent z-push that can do only email to our imap server. So once we have that setup we will be good to go on email and caldav. Unfortunately unless we can get z-push to work with contacts tied into SOGo then we will just have to go without carddav since we cannot open port 8800 to the outside world. So in the end, sorry for all the noise, just trying to document what I can to make sure no one else has to go through the hoops I had to go through. I'd certainly try giving your VM more memory. That appears to have been the main thing that helped for me. When I saw memory limits being reached, sogod would sometimes hang and consume 100% of the CPU. It started life with 4GB of memory and 4cpu cores. Recently when this started happening I gave it 6GB and 6 cores but that did not help much if any. Changing the cleanup time from 300 seconds to 90 seconds had the most impact and giving it 8 workers with 256MB each helped too. I just don't have the luxury of trying different settings since this is a production system now. If someone could explain the settings better maybe one evening I can change them to be optimal. It pulls LDAP from our primary OpenLDAP server, mail is accessed from our primary mail server, MySQL is accessed on our primary MySQL server, and we have a separate machine setup for "mobile mail" using the modified z-push which ties back into SOGo for the calendar/contacts. My question is this: is there anyone that has a fully functional testbed setup that mirrors their production setup in every way? If so how did you do it? Totally separate MySQL server or just a separate database? I am not really concerned about the LDAP or mail but mostly MySQL since that is where everything is kept for the calendars and such. What I would like to do is have a fully functional duplicate SOGo server that we can test updates on before rolling out to production. This means like duplicating the MySQL database and making sure preferences are the same in both places for like calendar colors, signature, etc. I am not concerned with entries input on the testbed translating to the production since all we will input on the testbed is exactly that, testing data. However it will need to be able to have all the data input on production available to be manipulated in the testbed. Hope this makes sense. -- Donny B. -- users@sogo.nu https://inverse.ca/sogo/lists

Maybe a setting I can push out in my cfg file? I think we used to have code in the SOGo Integrator extension to automatically wipe that calendar if no event is present in it. I know the code is in the extensions for TB2 but it could easily ported as it's like, a 2-liners. Would be good to have in (as a configurable item) in the integrator. André Wholeheartedly agreed. It is easy enough to move the events to their "Personal" calendar but is there a way to automatically remove the Home calendar from lightning upon installation? Maybe a setting I can push out in my cfg file? There is the danger that existing entries would get loss when we just blindly delete the calendar. We have already informed all users to only use the web interface for the time being to input events. If they have stuff on the Home calendar it will be deleted. So that is not an issue.
