Bumping this again so see if anyone else has any suggestions.
I've done some additional testing and every spreadsheet I have that has
multiple sheets will show the problem at some time.

And finally no matter what I do the help file is blank when I open it up. I
believe it's a related font issue but cannot seem to fix it.

the format of the cells to be number but that didn't do

Libreoffice open/save dialog (in the options dialog, under
Libreoffice-General). It might work around the issue to toggle it.
