If you do have setup kannel to store the messages on a file or store,
you wont loose any message. You will if you do use "internal storage"

numbers, so it might be OK not to have any dlr from you operator.
In this case, the "only" dlr you will receive is the one generated by

There is no sign of a dlr comming from the modem; so kannel can't do
anything about it. You might need to tweak modem init in order to be
sure dlr are forwarded to kannel.
You shutdown kannel just 2 minutes after sending the MT. It might take
a while to receive the dlr from your operator.

depending on the rpm, you might or not have support for mysql.
In case it does, kannel uses for dlr handling. It does not permanently
store messages, so you need to build that by yourself. You can use
sqlbox plugin for DB long term message store and for feeding/receiving
MT/MO to/from kannel

I have 2 providers with one I get about 48sms/min and with the other

You have not defined a storage for your queue, thus it is being build
in memory and as stated in your 1st mail, you are running out of
memory.
Try to setup the store type to file and see what happens. This will
also let you keep the messages in queue if kannel or the server
crashed or if you need
