That means a service is already running on that port. You don't specify
whether you are trying to start the POP3 or the SMTP when you get that
error, but whichever one you are trying is already running.

The issue is sqwebmail keeps a copy of the pass in ~/Maildir/sqwebmail-pass.
If you delete this file and change the pass in vpopmail it works in both

I heard there was a patch on the list to let courier-imap utilize the

Isn't IMP webmail? If so, maybe you could try sqwebmail. And I believe you
could at least figure out a way to get IMP to auth with vchkpw.

I have it installed and it's working (Sorta).
Mail is delievered instantaneous for some domains... Some have to wait for
10-15 minutes.. Other it nevers gets to the domain (Domain being where the

By "it working with vpopmail" are you saying it automatically can
authenticate with whatever mechanism vpopmail does? Under SMTP username
would the client have to put their full email address like the POP login?
Possibly with a % sign on some clients?

Any advice appreciated. Of course the real problem lies in the fact that
idiots have open relays and other idiots accept mail from them, but that
is a larger scale problem and I need a quick solution for my servers. I
imagine others are in the same boat?
Thanks,

If he changed the home directories to a different partition, it's likely the
home paths have changed..? This could affect /home/vpopmail (although I
don't think you'd be getting as far as you are if that was the case). You
say the MySQL tables look OK, but did you verify the home directory
The vpopmail FAQ implies this is only for POP logins, does it really log ANY
vpopmail authentication or is it really just for POP? And I assume we are
talking about the --enable-auth-logging=y from section 27 on the FAQ of
vpopmail 4.9.10? Or are you talking about a seperate feature? I don't
