Re: [vchkpw] sorry, your envelope sender domain must exist (#5.7.1).
IMHO it isn't a vpopmail problem. It is an message from qmail-smtpd. Check the patch applied to qmail-smtpd. Probably you patched the qmail and you don'tcheck the README before. hi all.. this is something very simple probably but can not figure it out. i have vpopmail installed with qmail. it used to work a few weeks ago without any problem and i have not (or any body else) modified any of the files in the qmail/control directory. when i send mail to the machine that has the qmail/vpopmail installed i get Sorry,_no_mailbox_here_by_that_name in the maillog. i created a new user under the same virtual domain using qmailadmin. no problems there. everything under ~/vpopmail seems ok and under the qmail/controls too. assign, vitualdomains, rcpthosts - they all have the correct entries. but is till get Sorry,_no_mailbox_here_by_that_name . what am i missing? where else should i look? thanks.. --

[vchkpw] Sorry....
I guess you get this question every day and twice on sundays, although not on this list since ive checked the archives. Now, the thing is, i cannot get to compile courier-imap (0.42.2, source package as distributed in debian sarge. Courier latest stable vanilla also fails the exact same way) with vpopmail (latest stable vanilla) in debian due to two things: 1.- Configure fails due to a missing /home/vpopmail/etc/lib_deps which is just not there. I 'touch' it and configure continues 2.- After doing that, it fails when linking the vchkpwd auth stuff. This happens even if i copy /home/vpopmail/lib/libvpopmail.a to /usr/lib. Im compling all this from the /usr/local/src directory with all the flags in the debian package let me show you: COMMON_CONFOPTS=--prefix=/usr --mandir=\$${prefix}/share/man \ --with-piddir=/var/run/courier \ --sysconfdir=/etc/courier \ --libexecdir=\$${prefix}/lib/courier \ --datadir=\$${prefix}/lib/courier \ --localstatedir=/var/lib/courier \ --sbindir=\$${prefix}/sbin \ --with-mailuser=daemon \ --with-mailgroup=daemon \ --without-socks \ --enable-workarounds-for-imap-client-bugs \ --with-authpam \ --without-authpwd \ --with-authmysql \ --with-mysql-includes=/usr/include/mysql \ --with-mysql-libs=/usr/lib \ --with-authpgsql \ --with-pgsql-includes=/usr/include/postgresql \ --with-pgsql-libs=/usr/lib \ --without-authshadow \ --with-authdaemonvar=/var/run/courier/authdaemon \ --with-authcram \ --with-db=gdbm \ --without-fcgi \ --with-htmllibdir=/usr/share/sqwebmail \ --with-ispell=/usr/bin/ispell \ --enable-imageurl=/sqwebmail \ --with-mailer=/usr/sbin/sendmail \ --enable-sendmail=/usr/sbin/sendmail \ --with-cachedir=/var/cache/sqwebmail \ --with-calendardir=/var/run/courier/calendar \ --with-webadmindir=/usr/share/courier/webadmin \ --enable-userdb \ --enable-syslog=1 \ --enable-unicode \ --disable-root-check As you can see, i took away the without-vchkpw directive so that it correctly attempts to configure for vpopmail. The courier people (from their ml archives) claim it all the vpopmail's people fault, i think they can be pretty snotty but hey, its their imap server So, any help would be greatly appreciated
Re: [vchkpw] Sorry....
No better teacher than one selfsorry for the happy trigger, i shouldve researched a bit morehere is the solution with the latest vanilla courier imap: 1.- Dont know why /home/vpopmail/etc/lib_deps and inc_deps is not created by vpopmail installBUT, you need to put in there the includes and libs that courier will need to link into vpopmail. Here is mine: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/courier-imap-2.2.1$ cat /home/vpopmail/etc/lib_deps -L/home/vpopmail/lib -lvpopmail -L/usr/lib/ -lmysqlclient -lz [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~/courier-imap-2.2.1$ cat /home/vpopmail/etc/inc_deps -I/home/vpopmail/include 2.- Even then, as vpopmail sets the permissions on the ~/lib directory to +x to root and to vpopmail.a +r only to root, youll need to either change (temporarily) the permissions so that the compiling user can read and change into the directory. To be on the safe side, you can put in /etc/ld.so.conf the /home/vpopmail/lib directory. Thats what i did, it worked. Now, ill keep you posted on DOES IT RUN? 3.- Too much to keep track off with my previous configure options so, i changed to what the inter7 vpopmail faq recomends

Hello i finally got the problem. i tried to delete and re-add another domain with a - in it. and it worked. under the new version of vpopmail. so it was not that problem. i then thought about, what the heck is the difference between haller-systemservice.net and all the others? sure, it is my main / master domain. it was in all defaultdomain and me-files. so i removed all entries from these files, except for localhost. now it works. main:/var/qmail/control # cat defaultdomain localhost main:/var/qmail/control # cat plusdomain localhost main:/var/qmail/control # cat me localhost main:/var/qmail/control # cat helohost localhost main:/var/qmail/control # main:/var/qmail/control # /etc/init.d/init.d/qmail restart Restarting qmail: * Stopping qmail-smtpd. * Sending qmail-send SIGTERM and restarting. * Restarting qmail-smtpd. main:/var/qmail/control # grep systemservice.net * rcpthosts:haller-systemservice.net virtualdomains:haller-systemservice.net:haller-systemservice.net before the removal, there were several entries in the plusdomain, defaultdomain, me and helohost files with main.haller-systemservice.net or haller-systemservice.net because this is the fqdn of the server. after removing the whole bunch, it works. it was not a problem of permissions or with vpopmail. [vchkpw] Sorry,_no_mailbox_here_by_that_name ???
Hi List, i don't know why it happened, but the following came up today: I've got 5 virtual domains that all worked very well. When I looked into the log-files today, i saw the following: starting delivery 7: msg 1097818 to local [EMAIL PROTECTED] status: local 1/10 remote 0/20 delivery 7: failure: Sorry,_no_mailbox_here_by_that_name._(#5.1.1)/ Before, the message delivery always looked like this: starting delivery 7: msg 1097818 to local [EMAIL PROTECTED] As i didn't know what to do, i deleted the whole domain and made it new. Now it works again - but I absolutely don't know what went wrong. Anyone any idea? Thanks, J. Kendzorra

first of all im sorry if this a dupe, I somehow found out how to post to the archive (search - newtopic) thinking it was a forum, then realizing its a mailing list I thought it proably didnt make it to the list the first time... ok, I have used vpopmail before and I cant figure out the problem... Im running debian testing, it links qmail so it behaves like a normal install... I apt'd qmail and ucspi-tcp, I compiled vpopmail normally only with a default domain... Ive ./vaddomain dragon.bz and nayr.net with a couple users, I am able to pop the accounts just fine, but when I try to send email to the addresses from a my lycos account I get the reply.. Hi.
