[videoblogging] Political Video Project
Is the Political Video Project still going? I see politicalvideo.org only goes as far as 2007 or so. Problem is I need video from the past year because I plan on capitalizing on President Obama's hopeful plans to change Washington (And call him his staff on the carpet on a few things at the same time) by making a remix viral video posting it to my political blog. So I suppose the bigger question now (Given all the issues at stake) is what (If anything) is being done to somehow continue (Or preserve) videos from the Obama Administration? Iny my opinion, we shouldn't stop preserving videos simply because we've changed Presidents in the past year. That's lame. Just curious my opinion. Cheers :D

- Jay dedman jay.ded...@gmail.com wrote: All political speech should be available no matter what party is in power. Agreed. http://politicalvideo.org started because you couldn't easily get access to President Bush's speeches. All his videos were locked in REAL or streaming Windows format. Several of us spent a week scraping Bush's presidential site, transcoding the video archive, and reposting online in a searchable format. Not to mention it's ANITQUATED technology compared to what is available today (And Republicans accuse the Democrats of not having enough transparency. Hell, when Bush the Republicans were in power, THERE WAS NO TRANSPARENCY unlike today) His speeches are posted online, including a downloadable mp4 and mp3: http://www.whitehouse.gov/photos-and-video/video/weekly-address-reining-budget-deficits I download his weekly addresses other key speeches every chance I get. I would like to see even more transparency beyond just access to videos in the political process. http://sunlightfoundation.com/ is a good advocacy group to check out. I too would like to see more transparency, but not necessariy from Obama. But rather from his Press Secretary. I mean, they don't even make the daily news conferences available. That's unfortunate as I'd HATE to have to go digging around on YouTube to see if someone posts them there JUST TO SNAG ONE LITTLE SNIPPET. It ain't worth all that IMO. I should be able to just download the whole thing, transcode it if need be, edit it, add additional material I plan to add, save it, convert it (back) upload it. Plain simple. But alas, that's only if all things in this strasnge sometimes screwy world were equal (Which unfortunately they're not). But I will check out the Sunlight Foundation. Maybe they collect stuff I can use. BTW Quirk - What the heck is Bacterial Video? I've never heard of that. Cheers :D

Re: [videoblogging] Re: How do you consume video?
For current TV shows online, I use services such as Hulu. Otherwise, I download old low-budget Grade B movies CLASSIC (As in BEFORE 1980) TV shows from such places as the Internet Archive as well as whatever I can scrape up on YouTube piece together that also meet this criteria. If I had a way to do it, I'd also convert those movies shows into 3GP format so I can take 'em with me watch 'em on my phone. :) As for Vlogs, video blogs or whatever trips your trigger for the name - That's why man invented PODCATCHERS. :) There ya have it from me Cheers :) Pat - Original Message - From: ratbagradio ratbagra...@gmail.com To: videoblogging@yahoogroups.com Sent: Thursday, September 10, 2009 6:17:58 PM GMT -07:00 US/Canada Mountain Subject: [videoblogging] Re: How do you consume video? RE: [videoblogging] Media Connection feeback
Hi everyone: Hey Amani - Those episodes are GREAT!! Community TV AT ITS FINEST. You should be on a Public Access channel if you aren't already. In fact, after seeing that interview with Tessa, I added onto the Independent Media section of the new message board for my The Left Wing Conservative show to include not only bloggers, audio video podcasters with regards as to how the news should be reported, but I added social networking sites as well. As she was commenting, my first thought was Josh Wolf his friends commenting on (I think it was) one of then-Presidential Candidate Barack Obama's campaign stops in the Bay Area (I know there's a thread on it buried somewhere in the message archives of this group). That's when it hit me that I had better add the part of social networking sites as they really have become quite powerful. Anyway. To avoid hijacking the thread here, I won't post my new message board URL here, though I will post it in the very near future. Again.Great job Amani KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!! RE: [videoblogging] Is This Legal?
Hi everyone: I know I'm replying via Jay here BUT Are the homes in question in your community? If so, then the video could be considered an act of activism if area residents are planning some type of protest. If the protest goes sour, you can do what Josh Wolf did as you would have journalistic protection (Even though the law has yet to legally recognize those in the so-called new media as being actual journalists). If YouTube and Google can't make it work, how the hell is anybody else supposed to? Google is actually hurting the whole online video market by providing video as a free 'loss leader'? While they can afford to prop up YouTube's failed business model by subsidizing their massive losses to the tune of half a billion a year, how can anybody else innovate sensible revenue models for online video? The Free internet is a massive illusion. You're forgetting one VERY important thing. Not all of us are on the Internet to make $$$. That too is an illusion. [videoblogging] Would Like Files Checked For Functionality
Hi everyone: Before I go widely promoting these to the whole weight loss world, I'd like to see if you folks can see if these files work in your phone or other portable device. All I need to know is whether or not they can be viewed with a phone or other portable device. Any other specific details you choose to give will just simply help others out. I am aware of the video issues with Episodes 8 9 as well as the audio quirks in Episode 10 however I think I've managed to find a way to skin BOTH wabbits (As Elmer Fudd would probably say :D ). Instead of using Windows Media Encoder (As I was in Episodes 8 9 and all other episodes throughout my video podcasting history), I'm now using the new Adobe Flash Encoder (As I did in Episode 10). Though, in order to correct the quirks in the audio, I will be using the LOW bandwidth settings (That said, I may try to toggle with the screen resolution setting if I can since video was never an issue with Episode 10). So anyway, if you guys could check those videos out on your hardware devices and reply in this thread with any feedback you have, it'd be MUCH appreciated. I hope to have all

Hi everyone: Developers marketers have been down this road before in the Web 1.0 world with popup windows, banner ads even embedded statically-located audio video players. ALL of these tactics have been defeated one way or another. Flash ITSELF can be blocked by some IE clones Firefox. Hi everyone: The EASIEST way to make yourself stick out from the herd as it were would be to make your content compatible with as many devices as possible. This is why I'm doing 3GP versions of my latest videos (And perhaps some of the older ones as well) for my weight loss blog. With Apple's reluctance to accept 3GP Flash as demanded formats by end users, we can't rely on the iPod alone to reach the masses because while it's true that millions of people DO own iPods, it's also true that MILLIONS MORE **DO NOT** own an iPod either (I know because I'm an example though I'd love to change change that someday :D ). Therefore, in order to reach people who don't iPods, you have to take aim at their cell phones (You can EXPORT TO a cell phone just as easily as you can import from a cell phone, ya know. It's just a little slower process). Either way you look at it (As I said before), there's more than one way to make yourself stick out from the herd as it were adding a so-called player like this just isn't the way IMO. [videoblogging] Adding iPhone 3GP Versions
Hi everyone: After some careful thought consideration, I have decided that it is time to include other formats which are now becoming more standardized as far as the Defacto configuration is concerned. Those formats being the Apple iPhone 3GP for cell phones and other portable devices. I will start with my weight loss video podcast since I have THREE new videos (One has already been uploaded to BlipTV). That said however, I also realize that the nature of RSS 2.0 simply is incapable of supporting more than one enclosure Blogger's own RSS 2.0 feed (At least in all likelihood) wouldn't even see the enclosure because the files aren't on Blogger's own servers (I seemingly recall many of you complaining about that). Add that to the fact that I want to have a better (And CUSTOMIZABLE) root page so it doesn't look so generic like the BlipTV pages do, I have decided that, in keeping with what I have done with my political podcast thus far, to use PodBean as the primary host for BOTH audio video BlipTV as the backup host for video. Now could I get multiple accounts on BlipTV? Sure. But why do that when BlipTV lists every single file on ONE page (Which GOES AGAINST how RSS 2.0 is supposed to work because RSS 2.0 can't handle more than one enclosed file). Add to the fact that my content isn't of a vital or sensitive nature as is the case with some people, I can use just about any common format out there. Anyhow, even though you may see the Quicktime Player skin for the actual screen capture on my Blogger page (I may even decide to change that to a more universal player like GOM Player), but unlike the past, I **WILL NOT** link wrap any of the videos around the screen capture itself. Instead, visitors to to the Blogger page will see text links to the posts on PodBean where they can download the file manually if they so wish to download the file that way. RSS subscription options will, of course, be in the side panel as it would be with any podcast. Anyway, that's the latest news from here. Cya! Hi everyone: Well in my case, my content is **SPECIFICALLY** for the non-tech savvy person (Many of whom probably don't have unlimited data plans). Besides, many phones come with a way to hook it up to a USB port on a computer or hub controller anyway. True it's mainly used to transfer pictures, but there's NOTHING stopping you from transferring video from your computer to your phone. Granted it'd be slower than it would if you were transferring from computer to computer or computer to CD/DVD or perhaps even computer to your iPod. But it'd be worth it IMO. On top of that, but correct me if I'm wrong here, but aren't ESPN, CNN, the NFL, NBC Sports, The Olympics others already streaming LIVE video in 3GP? HmmmI seemingly recall that. We decided that we will take a different route and only support the iPhone, iPod Touch and higher-end Nokia S60 devices. Yes, there are plenty of other devices, but we'd rather target the handsets whose owners are likely to afford the data plans needed to enjoy videos on the go and provide them with nice H.264 content instead of crappy 3GP content. The 3GP-enabled phones are used by the non-tech savvy majority who will never watch our content because they don't know how or can't afford the prices the operators are asking for data transfer. Rather that waste our time on creating crappy videos that nobody'll watch, we are focusing our efforts on producing high-quality videos for those who are interested and can afford to download them. [videoblogging] Encoding In 3GP
Hi everyone: I know this has probably been brought up before (I know I've mentioned it a few times), but I'm wondering that, now it seems we have a fairly good idea as to where 3GP is going, which settings would be best to use. The reason I ask is because I want to make versions of my videos for people to play back on the cell phones and other portable devices. The only problem is all the programs out there use so many freakin' different profiles in an effort to cover EVERY FRIGGIN PHONE OUT THERE, it's hard to figure out which profile to use. I'm thinking of just simply going with the Blackberry Motorola for the most basic support. From there, I'm looking at encoding for large and small screens. From there, I'm thinking of using THE OLDEST profile setting since newer devices are bound to be backwards compatible to begin with. My question is would this be the simplest way to go or would I be going down the wrong route? Of course, since it's unlikely that one account will be able to accomondate the videos without compromising the integrity of the RSS feed, I'll have to have more than one account, but as long as the feeds are promoted on the main blog, it shouldn't matter. Thoughts? Re: [videoblogging] Encoding In 3GP
Hi everyone: Well finding a host is THE LEAST of my concerns right now. I have one which I use for my audio podcast although they support audio AND video (And even then, I can always get multiple accounts with all the email addresses I have:D). My main concern is encoding my videos whereas they can be decoded and played back by the vast majority of mobile devices on the market. I realize I may not be able to hit every one, but if I can get a simple majority of them, that would REALLY make me a happy camper. :D Cheers :D Pat Cook patsbl...@live.com Denver, CO BLOGS PODCASTS AS MY WORLD TURNS - http://asmyworldturnsblog.blogspot.com/ AS MY WEIGHT LOSS WORLD TURNS - http://asmyweightlossworldturns.blogspot.com/ THE LEFT WING CONSERVATIVE - http://www.geocities.com/theleftwingconservative/ From: Rupert Sent: Wednesday, February 11, 2009 23:28 To: videoblogging@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [videoblogging] Encoding In 3GP When I post videos (I haven't for months) I try to also upload them to Share on Ovi, which converts them to 3gp automatically and provides a mobile compatible channel for you to link to from your blog and an RSS feed. Gives me another outlet where people can watch my videos, and saves the hassle of converting them myself and worrying about the best way to make my blog compatible for older video phones. Hi everyone: Don't need any. Just simply hit ALT+PRINT SCREEN *simultaneously* and then use your favorite image editing program (It can even be MS Paint if that's all you got, but I don't recommend it) to paste the capture. Hi everyone: But can you edit for YouTube WITHOUT having to take breaks just so each video is under 10 minutes though? If not, it wouldn't be worth it to me. I'd just assume use good ol' Windows Media Encoder. Many people may not like it, but for a Windows user like me, it is very reliable (It's also the TRIED TRUE too :D ). Re: [videoblogging] Does the Blog format work for Vlogging anymore?
Hi everyone: The achillies heel of not being able to sticky your favorite posts as if you the admin of a message board or mark them as a favorite has held true in ALL forms of blogging (Be it text, audio or video). Heck, I can still remember when I first posted my favorite personal rendition of Twas The Night Before Christmas. I've been reposting it EVERY YEAR ever since (And plan on doing it again this year on my AS MY WORLD TURNS blog). In fact, I may do something I hadn't even done with it before. That is to MAKE A VIDEO OF IT post it on my YouTube channel. That said (And basically put), about THE ONLY way to prevent your favorite posts from being forgotten is to REPOST them using the CURRENT date. That's THE ONLY way you can solve that problem. As for the lack of themes, well all I can say is that the creator of the theme needs to be compensated SOMEHOW (Especially during these economic hard times). It's just a fact of life. Hope this helps Just my opinion Cheers Pat From: Heath Sent: Wednesday, December 10, 2008 08:56 To: videoblogging@yahoogroups.com Subject: [videoblogging] Does the Blog format work for Vlogging anymore? I have been doing a lot of thinking as I come close to my 3 year mark of vlogging. From the outset of vlogging almost everyone settled on the blog format for their site. And I think at that time it worked. However, now.I am not so sure. I mean every time you make a video and post, that video moves down the list and soon it's off your homepage in some cases, never to be seen again. Now for some, maybe that is no big deal, but.I think some of us all make a few videos that we are especially proud of, and in the current blog/vlog format, there is no easy way (I know we can sticky but if you sticky more than a couple no one will ever see your new content on your site) to show off those posts. It seems to me that there is a huge lack in the number of themes that take advatage of vlogging. I mean with the explosion of online video, you would think we would have more, but I only know of a small handfull and most of those you have to pay for. I am just curious as to what you all think? I just don't knowI mean part of me likes the blog/vlog format as it is, but I find myself longing for a different way to show off my video's moreso the ones that I want to showcase or ones that I am fond of...I mean I could revlog but So what do you all like and dislike about the current vlog format? Re: [videoblogging] Does the Blog format work for Vlogging anymore?
Hi everyone: The problem isn't with the blog format itself, but rather with the aggregation protocol used (RSS). I say this because for MONTHS now, I've been wanting to add 3GP versions of my videos so that people with cell phones and other 3G portable devices can subscribe to my videos just like people with iPods can since there are MANY more phones and other devices out there than there are iPods themselves (Mind you, this DOES NOT include the iPhone, which of course can just as easily play anything encoded/transcoded for the iPod itself), but with RSS 2.0 being as (For lack of a better word) archaic as it is, THE ONLY way I know of that this can be done is if a SEPARATE blog is created. It's time for RSS 3.0 to be rolled out (And the sooner THE BETTER). Just my opinion... Re: [videoblogging] how to repair out of sync .mp4 files
Hi everyone: I may be getting in late on this, so if I am, please bear with me. First of all, you should NEVER rip your preview video directly into what you will encode your final draft version into. This is because (As you just found out the hard way), if there ARE any technical issues, they can be corrected via the preview version. The preview version should ALWAYS be encoded in either AVI (If you have a Windows machine), MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 formats. You can then load this version into just about any application such as TMGEnc or any of the others out there (I recommend TMPGEnc because its free while the others are either shareware or payware). THAT IN MIND THOUGH, you should be aware that A). These programs may not be able to correct *all* of the technical issues with your video, but they can help in correcting some or most of them. B). If the program or programs don't correct ANY of the issues at all, then more likely than not, the problem lies with the source file on the DVD itself. Not many applications can encode straight from DVD and still keep the encoded video bug free (TMPGEnc can only do so much to correct such anomalies). In any event, once you have your preview version, play it using any player. If there are no problems, then simply export it into your final draft MP4 video. Re: [videoblogging] YouTube alternatives - vlog review.
Hi everyone: Not only is what Rupert said below true BUT there are MANY other advantages as well. Some of them are A). Users can download the videos to their iPod or other portable device AS WELL AS their computer via RSS subscription or manual download BUT it's only from your own blog or website. (YouTube doesn't allow the download of ANY videos BY ANY MEANS even though many programmers have developed clients that ILLEGALLY do just that). B). You have ZERO rights control of your videos on YouTube (This is NOT good if you hope to use your videos to propel yourself into a major $$$ making career making videos). C). YouTube is JUST NOW getting into LIVE video (But even that isn't for just anyone). Meanwhile, you've got places like BlogTV, LiveVideo (Albeit just recently) even Yahoo! doing it. D). YouTube limits you to 10 minutes or 200 MB (The latter being a recent upgrade from 100 MB) per video clip. And even that is on a Whichever comes first basis whereas BlipTV and the others don't have such restrictions (Though I think BlipTV's stand-alone uploader has it, but since I don't normally use it, I can't claim that to be 100% fact). I could on and on, but I think you get the gist by now as to why most of us avoid YouTube like the plague as best as possible (Especially when it comes to producing videos which we hope to build a career on and around). That said though, having a YouTube channel AS A SUPPLEMENT to your video blog CAN be a GOOD thing. But ONLY if you do it right. This can be something as simple as putting your blog URL in your YouTube profile (As that's shown on the channel page). When people see that and see the videos in DOWNLOADABLE format, they're more prone to subscribe to your blog so they can take your videos with them instead of feeling (As an old friend of mine who now lives in Philly would put it) tethered to the computer (Nobody wants that these days). Vimeo's quality is better and their community is better (but smaller) and they support HD. Blip allows you to link to the original mp4 file, which is necessary for podcasting and syndication via things like iTunes. Also, their flash Show Player allows you to embed high quality mp4 files rather than crappy quality flv. YouTube has many more people watching, but don't be fooled into thinking that that translates into lots of viewers for you unless you have a commercial/viral proposition. Also, their community stinks, it's full of haters and the video quality has always been bad. They're finally, after 3 years, sorting out widescreen playback and a higher quality option. But they'll never fix the attitude problem. It's different on your own blog or at the other services. And you still have to work at promotion. Re: [videoblogging] Spoof Accounts
Hi everyone: First offNot many of us really care if the YouTube versions are stolen (Your word) because the video quality is so poor, we don't prominently feature it on the main blog page anyway (Though most of us do link to our YT channels log into our YT accounts to see who has subscribed to us and to check for new videos from people we've subscribed to). But aside from that, that's about as far as most of us go with YT. Secondly, what you mean by spoof accounts? Lastly, if you don't your videos to be downloaded or embedded, why not just simply disable embedding on the options page you see after the video is uploaded? That would solve the problem right there. I live in an area where Comcast and the phone company wont connect us because there arent enough of us. So we're on satellite internet which is fast, but limits our home to 300mb traffic per day. [videoblogging] Fw: [podcasters] Podcast Research
Hi everyone: Robb, I am forwarding this onto the videoblogging group @ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/videoblogging since this is where the vast majority of the video podcasters are. Don't get me wrong. There are a few video podcasters here. But this crowd does more AUDIO podcasting than they do video podcasting (I OTOH have been the complete opposite as of late ) whereas the other group focuses almost exclusively on video. As such, I think you'll get a faster response from the videoblogging group than you will the podcasters group IMO. Re: [videoblogging] Spoof Accounts
Hi everyone: Which goes back to my original point of why bother to care about YT quality video in the first place? We all know it sucks compared to iPod MP4 and even other Flash hosts (BlipTV comes to mind). If he really wants to use Flash and wants to maintain control over his copyright, YT is HARDLY the place to do it. You know that as well as I do. Besides EVEN IF someone were to steal his work, all he has to do is direct TPTB at YT to his blog where he has a Creative Commons License. If it's the appropriate license and is authentic, YT will take action against the spoofer. End of story. That said, I personally don't care if someone steals my videos because I don't have anything crying over. But then again, he may have poured hours into his work and from that standpoint, I can see why he'd be a little upset. But either way you look at it, YT is THE LAST place I'd rely on to securely host videos (Whether they're copyrighted commercially or with a Creative Commons License). But aside from that, that's about as far as most of us go with YT. Secondly, what you mean by spoof accounts? Lastly, if you don't your videos to be downloaded or embedded, why not just simply disable embedding on the options page you see after the video is uploaded? That would solve the problem right there. This way, all other people see when they view your videos are the words. EMBEDDING DISABLED BY REQUEST (Or words to that affect) where the HTML code for embedding would ordinarily be. Hi everyone: JD, I'm getting in on this late, but are you editing and exporting or just simply transcoding/converting? If all you're doing is simply transcoding/converting, I would recommend downloading a program called Free Video Converter from Koyote Software. You can download it from http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html (It's freeware and it's a free download too). Alternatively, if you don't feel comfortable going to a website you may know jack squat about, you can generally find it on CNET. Just enter the words Free Video Converter in the search box and it should right at or near the top. This program will convert video into several different formats in a variety of configurations (INCLUDING .MOV MP4). Hi everyone: You can bet that with all the blogs I have, I'll be posting a video or two (Especially if we get FOUR MORE YEARS OF BIG GOVERNMENT - Ugh! Just the MERE THOUGHT of it DRIVES ME UP THE FRIGGIN' WALL). Will I do all 30 days? I doubt it. Unless I either restart my Classic TV Commercials podcast or FINALLY launch my Old Time Radio show podcast (Which I keep putting off), I won't be doing all 30 days. But I'll post videos nevertheless. That said, I'm looking at the feasibility possibility of posting Blackberry 3GP compatible versions of my videos for cell phones as well as iPod now that Blackberry seems to be rapidly becoming the defacto standard for any phones not connected with Apple now that I have a program that doesn't make me play guesswork as to which use codecs and other settings to use (Though admittedly the jury seems to be still undecided as to the future of this trend). Our channel will be: http://www.mefeedia.com/channels/navlopomo2008 Everybody adds their feed to that channel, and any videos on those feeds will show up in the channel. It's more reliable than using Tags. (tag your videos anyway - navlopomo2008) Mefeedia are going to set it up so that only videos shot in November show up, and so that we can filter by day. I think we'll have a cool Theater View as well, for a lean back big screen experience. At the bottom of the channel you can see all comments (those on Mefeedia) and activity. So we can comment and discuss there. On each video page there's a link back to the original post on your blog. There's a feed for the channel, so you can subscribe to all Navlopomo videos in Miro, FireAnt, iTunes, AppleTV, whatever you like. Low maintenance, maximum features. The only thing it doesn't have is a discussion forum, but almost all the discussion happens in the comments and in the videos themselves anyway. And I like it better that way. Re: [videoblogging] Screen recording software for Windows XP/Vista
Hi everyone: RICHARD wrote: Can anybody recommend screen recording software for Windows XP/Vista? For screencasts or to alternate between screen and webcam, I just simply use ManyCam. ManyCam is software with it's own WDM-compatible driver which is recognized by most any video capturing software (Included and other than it's own). For just a still screen capture however, I just simply hit ALT+PRINT SCREEN and use Irvanview to do any neccessary editing (This especially comes in handy when capturing an active window). I intend to boot into Windows XP on my MacBook Pro and use the Windows equivalent screen recording software. My client doesn¹t support Macs on their network and I need to record clear video to show web pages for tutorials, etc. I¹ve tried using a video camera and the output from a switcher, but neither is clear enough for my purposes. The video I captured from iShowU is crystal clear and is exactly what they want. I just need screen recording software for Windows so I can join their network and record the screen. Why can't you just use Windows Movie Maker or Windows Media Encoder and set the bitrate to (Sake for the sake of argument) 700 Kbps.? Seems to me that would be a whole lot simpler than what you're trying to do as outlined above. Plus keep this in mind. Windows Media Player already comes pre-packaged with all versions of Windows. If your client doesn't support Macs on their networks, WHY make 'em install Quicktime on their computers and/or install a server that will stream Quicktime files when Windows Media A). Will do the job just the same (Despite it being an MS product) and B). Is all your client's network can apparently support? Is there something I'm missing here? The video will be edited in Final Cut Pro 6. Windows Movie Maker can edit videos too, ya know. [videoblogging] NEEDED - Video Capture Program....
Hi everyone: I'm looking for a program (Namely a freebie) that will capture video from a video source (Be it a webcam, camcorder, etc), allow you to inser text AND (Ideally) image overlay. This software should also be able to playback video as well to apply text and video overlays, although that can probably be done simply by reconfiguring FFDShow to do it. VirtualDub can also do it with pre-recorded video with the right plugins. Now I know that ManyCam will do this, but the text on it wipes out half my face because it's so big (I know because I've seen the preview on the ManyCam software). And mind you, this is with the size set to THE SMALLEST size (Size 8). If I moved back, my face wouldn't be viewable at all. The cam I'm using is my old Logitech QuickCam STX (The Microcrap LifeCam I had been using before died on me). But now I need video capturing software that's capable of doing it right off the bat. This way, I won't need to take that extra step of transcoding the video and risking pixelation as a result of packet loss and other general video degredation stemming from the transcoding process. If anybody can help point me in the right direction, it'd be MUCH appreciated. [videoblogging] My Latest Upcoming Video Podcast Projects
Hi everyone: Just wanted to let everyone here know that my new political talk show will be starting up in video format BEGINNING TOMORROW AFTERNOON (Evening on the East Coast) @ 5:00 PM ET (Unless severe weather forces a delay as my computer sits in front of a window) on BlogTV. The show is called The Left Wing Conservative and the format is me analyzing the issues of the day and talking to visitors in the chat room (I may even put a few people on the air as callers or as guests!). The blog page will be @ http://theleftwingconservative.blogspot.com/ I too have a Social Networking page on ning.com @ http://theleftwingconservative.ning.com/ though that'll be used for stuff in-between shows and a place to gather for the radio version, which will (Hopefully ultimately) be on various Internet Radio stations either for the LIVE broadcast or aired via audio podcast and aired at a later time. The audio version will also utilize the services of either BlogTalkRadio or (More likely) TalkShoe for interactive purposes. This show will air Wednesday Nights @ 9:00 PM ET. In fact, speaking of politics, someone from Senator Barack Obama's campaign office here in Denver called me up last night to inform me of a rally being held in my neighborhood. I told him if I'm up and around and in a position to leave the building in the morning hours when the rally is supposed to start, I'll try to make it up there. Part of that rally would involve some good ol' fashioned door-to-door campaigning (I already told the City Clerk's office I would NOT work this election as a judge due to concerns that MANY of the same issues that plagued them in '06 would re-manifest themselves AT LEAST threefold this time around and I wanted NO part of it). If I *do* go, I'll try to get something with my iRiver for the radio show on Wednesday (I'm not gonna even bother with getting video for the TV show because the cam I have is so cheap and I'd need time just to get it re-encoded whereas the ManyCam player CAN play it back and stream it onto BlogTV and it's just not worth the trouble). The audio version will be archived and podcast in high-quality 128/44. My next project is really an extention of one I had to put on the back burner to deal with offline RW issues. But now that those have been dealt with (Albeit MUCH slower than I'd like), not only is my Classic TV Commercials podcast being resumed, but two things will happen. They are... 1). The name will be changed from Pat's Classic TV Commercials to Back To The Future TV - Classic Commercials Collection. The URL will be renamed (But don't go there to subscribe just yet as you'll soon find the URL to be outdated). 2). A **NEW** Video Podcast will be created for certain Classic TV Shows from the 1950s and 1960s (I mean we're talking some REAL gems here. NOT just some cheap ass penny-ante modern-day spoof from SNL or MadTV or something!). It will be simply called the Back To The Future TV Video Podcast. Don't bother with subscribing now because you won't find this podcast. So anyway, that's the latest from here. I'll post more details as they become available. [videoblogging] New LIVE Video Site....
Hi everyone: Just the other night while looking for TVs (Of the SOFTWARE kind) on Download.com, I stumbled across a broadcaster program that allows you to stream EITHER live OR archived footage over their service. The service is called Unbind TV and their website is @ http://www.unbind.tv/ What this service does is allow you to do what other sites either don't or won't. That is the ability to stream LIVE **OR** On Demand videos OF ANY LENGTH!!! And here's a nice cheesy part - YOU CAN EMBED A PLAYER ONTO YOUR WEBSITE!!! All you need to do is copy some HTML code from their site and paste it onto a standard web page. You can use a blog too, but you'd have to resize it though. The whole concept behind it is P2P Streaming, which means YOU upstream the video to their servers but THEY take the load so you don't have to. Now I already know what you're gonna say. That being that TVUNetworks and SopCast are WAY ahead in this arena. To that I say true HOWEVER (Unless this has changed) the embedded player provided by TVUNetworks is Java-based and SopCast doesn't even provide one. Unbind TV at least provides (What appears to be) a Flash-based player, but even that depends on the way in which you are streaming (I plan on using Windows Media, but it'll be on TVUNetworks). Unbind TV will take videos which are encoded in the AVI (Regardless of compression used), ASF, WMV or RM formats. Oddly enough, they don't support ANY form of MPEG or Quicktime formats (The latter which might rule out nearly half of this group). As for the streaming of FLV, I *think* it supports it, but am not sure on that either way. But you know what THE COOLEST thing I like about the service is? YOU CAN MAKE $$$ OFF YOUR STREAM!!! That's right - MAKE $$$. It's NOT a scam (They seem to legit as I checked it out MYSELF). They offer free stations as well as stations for pay (Including PAY-PER-VIEW!!). That all said, the tradeoff for some people here is being on the same service which many people who run PORN streams are on. But even with that, with the right promotion, the porn streams don't stand a chance! :) So GO OVER THERE CHECK IT OUT - http://www.unbind.tv/ (No, I don't work for them or otherwise benefit by promoting Unbind TV here so my objectivity is still intact). Just figured I'd pass the word around about this site since it appears it hasn't been mentioned or otherwise promoted here already. Re: [videoblogging] Re: Things are changing for real.....(?)
Hi everyone: Here's MY take on the whole issue. See my responses below Jay dedman wrote: On a more positive note, I think that even if we are forced into a tiered situation, it probably won't last very long. People will be angry and demand more bandwidth. Other companies could rise to the challenge and lay bigger pipes and tubes to meet demand. We may see a temporary information recession, but it's not the end of the world. Comcast and other broadband providers need to simply be transparent. they cant say they have all-you-can-eat service and then throttle back how much you actually get. this is the bait-and-switch method of business. If I'm only going to get 100GB of traffic a month, then tell me that. I do believe someone could *conceivably* claim DECEPTIVE ADVERTISING on the part of the cable Telco industries if they REALLY wanted to. Broadband companies need to say what they are actually offering so customers can make educated decisions. Beyond the packages, that has nothing to do with it. unfortunately in the US, there is often only one broadband in a region (aka monopoly) This is why we must also have regulation to make sure that one carrier doesn't block certain technologies or websites arbitrarily. They must be neutral about what goes through the pipes. Well whether Comcast likes it or not, my little Internet TV station will be going 'through their pipes'. The same goes for my radio station too. I think what needs to be done is for either Congress or (Perhaps even more appropriately) the U.S. Supreme Court to take action against State and/or local laws governing who shall be the provider of Cable, Internet Telephone service in their area. I mean LOOK AT THE SATELLITE TV INDUSTRY. They're free to operate wherever they damned well choose. The cable companies don't have that luxury because of ANTIQUATED State and/or Local laws, many of which date back to the late '70s and early '80s. I say this because Denver is one of those municipalities where such a law exists. It basically states that not more than ONE cable company (Today that would be Comcast) CANNOT operate within the boundaries of The City County Of Denver. They CAN however operate in the Suburbs (In fact, United Cable did just that when it was around while Mile High Cablevision operated in The City County Of Denver itself AND had the SOLE EXCLUSIVE license as a result of that law being passed by voters). Now today, if (Let's say for the sake of discussion) Cox Communications wanted to set up shop and offer their cable services, they could probably do so, but again, it'd have to be in the suburbs since Comcast (Through it's acqusition of ATT Broadband many moons ago) has the sole exclusive license to operate in The City County Of Denver itself. But the big $64,000 question there is would Cox REALLY wanna step on Comcast's toes to get into the Denver market? With Comcast being THE ONLY game in town when it comes to Cable TV, Comcast has FREE REIGN to do whatever it damned well pleases in BOTH the suburbs AND The City County Of Denver. In short, I think the problem lies with all these old antiquated State and/or local laws that are STILL in/on the books which NO ONE seems to be in a real big hurry to change. And unfortunately, unless something is done soon, the complacency by the government AND the cable and Telco industries WILL prove to be COSTLY (And WE CONSUMERS will come out on the losing end as we'll be THE BIGGEST LOSERS!! :( ). Just my opinion Cheers :) -- Pat Cook Denver, Colorado PODCASTS - AS MY WORLD TURNS - Blogger Page - http://asmyworldturnstv.blogspot.com/ BlogTV Page - http://www.blogtv.com/Shows/20453 AS MY WEIGHT LOSS WORLD TURNS - http://asmyweightlossworldturns.blogspot.com PAT'S REAL DEAL VIDEO BLOG - http://patsrealdeal.livejournal.com/ PAT'S HEALTH MEDICAL WONDERS VIDEOCAST - http://patshealthmedicalwondersvideocast.blogspot.com/ YOUTUBE CHANNEL - http://www.youtube.com/amwowttv/ THE PAT COOK SHOW - http://www.livevideo.com/thepcshow THE PAT COOK SHOW (Video Podcast) - Blogger Page - http://thepctvshow.blogspot.com/ - BlogTV Page - http://www.blogtv.com/Shows/19924 **COMING SOON** - PAT'S CLASSIC TV COMMERCIALS VIDEO PODCAST - http://patsclassictvcommercials-ipod.blogspot.com/ (iPod), http://patsclassictvcommercials-flash.blogspot.com/ (Flash)

[videoblogging] Need Help With Hooking Up Cam
Hi everyone: I'm trying to setup use my Mustek DV5300SE mounted to a tripod as the cam I can rely on to send video to my computer since it's hardware-driven and takes up less resources as opposed to an even cheaper (In quality if not in price as well) webcam which is software-driven and takes up far more resources. But I've got a problem. For some reason, whenever I plug the AV cord into the back of my cam, the screen goes blank. I've got the other end plugged into my Happauge WinTV card, which can handle TV, composite, Svideo and has two AUX inputs. I've ran BOTH the software that comes with the card and a thrid-party capture application and I get NOTHING but a blue screen (Even when there is video on the cam's screen. I then grabbed another cable and adapter (The adapter probably was all audio as it only red and white female inputs with a standard 1/8 male jack on the other end) and plugged that in. Nothing changed. I could plug it into a USB port (The cam has one as does my PC), but not having a hub controller available at my disposal at the present moment, I could use all the ports I can get (I only have two as it is and this keyboard takes up one of those!). Any tips as to how I might be able to solve this problem using what I have or do I have no other option but to wait till I can get the proper adapter for what I need? Play it on a computer hoked up to a TV/projector. 3. Write to DVD MPEG2 (MPG file) and use a DVD authoring program create a DVD that you can play in a standard DVD player 4. Create a DiVX file using the DiVX High Definition Profile (should make something close to 720p quality). Play it on a computer hoked up to a TV/projector or DiVX capable DVD player. 5. Create a Windows Media file using a High Definition Profile (should make something close to 720p quality). Play it on a computer hoked up to a TV/projector. 6. Write an MP4 file (640x480) and dump it on to an iPod. A $10 cable will connect the iPod to any TV or LCD projector. Use at least two of these options. If you don't know what will be there, then take multiple formats. Another option would be to use BlipTV as unlike YouTube, BlipTV DOES encode in HD (Or at least near-HD) Flash, which you can then use on your large screen. YouTube will look really bad on a big screen, so don't bother with that option. I wouldn't even mess with YouTube for something like this either Jocelyn. YouTube is mainly for home page stuff anyway. If you're gonna go this route, you may as well put it on MySpace too as that's just as bad. What you need is a site that's a little more upscale and professional and BlipTV is BOTH of these things. [videoblogging] LiveVideo Is Now Truly LIVE!!!
Hi everyone: Just noticed this last night. It's kinda like BlogTV, only you can have SEVERAL people on in video AT ONCE. Not sure how this works in archive format though as I'd have to check it out, but it sounds promising. :) The only drawback is that you can't download the archive (Though I imagine it won't be long till some geek develops an application that WILL download LV-archived videos though), but you can embed it (Great if you are only doing Flash but bad if you're doing Quicktime MP4 though). But at least video is at least STARTING to catch up to what can already be done with Skype and audio podcasting. :) Cheers :D -- Pat Cook Denver, Colorado PODCASTS - AS MY WORLD TURNS - Blogger Page - http://asmyworldturnstv.blogspot.com/ BlogTV Page - http://www.blogtv.com/Shows/20453 AS MY WEIGHT LOSS WORLD TURNS - http://asmyweightlossworldturns.blogspot.com PAT'S REAL DEAL VIDEO BLOG - http://patsrealdeal.livejournal.com/ PAT'S HEALTH MEDICAL WONDERS VIDEOCAST - http://patshealthmedicalwondersvideocast.blogspot.com/ YOUTUBE CHANNEL - http://www.youtube.com/amwowttv/ THE PAT COOK SHOW - http://www.livevideo.com/thepcshow THE PAT COOK SHOW (Video Podcast) - Blogger Page - http://thepctvshow.blogspot.com/ - BlogTV Page - http://www.blogtv.com/Shows/19924 **COMING SOON** - PAT'S CLASSIC TV COMMERCIALS VIDEO PODCAST - http://patsclassictvcommercials-ipod.blogspot.com/ (iPod), http://patsclassictvcommercials-flash.blogspot.com/ (Flash)
Re: [videoblogging] Are women less willing to speak their minds?
Hi everyone: gerry tejeda wrote: Although I agree with some of your valid points about What helps women talk on camera? I totally DISAGREE with your traditional approach on how to do that. I should know from first hand experience what it takes to get a women to open up and talk on camera. Since, I do a weekly show about SEX and Relationships called The Gerry T Show http://TheGerryTShow.Blip.TV http://TheGerryTShow.Blip.TV where every week I interview random women to talk to me on camera about these 2 topics. First off, I have to say that I have to say that I disagree (Respectfully mind you) with BOTH of you! I have learned that women have ways of speaking their minds in ways us guys can't seem to comphrehend. I know this because my mom is NOT afraid of speaking HER mind (And she's 62 years old!) Her best friend (Who's about as old as I am. I'm 41 going on 42 in June) is hispanic, knows martial arts, and is HARDLY afraid of speaking her mind and verbally putting people back in their place. She's not afraid to do it PHYSICALLY too if needed. I also live in an urban area and we all know how urbanized women (Particularly women who live in ghetto 'hoods can express THEMSELVES, now do we?). If you don't, just watch an episode or two of COPS and you'll be QUICKLY educated. I think that Lindsay Campbell of Moblogic who I've met and hung out with is VERY GOOD at what she does. The problem lies not in a fuzzy microphone in your face, or being overwhelmed by a camera person, or the interviewer, or even being offered snacks while sitting on a comfortable couch in some studio. The problem or the challenge lies in getting the RIGHT person in front of the camera. Either the person you're interviewing has it, or they don't. Its that simple! Agreed. Which is why I posted the comments above. Don't worry Lindsay Campbell and Moblogic you learn from your mistakes, and failures are the lessons of success. We all do. I could on and on ad nauseum too on how Audacity reduces such things as hiss, hum and other anomalies, but I won't. The good news: Audacity can easily zap out a consistent background noise to the point where there's dead silence between bursts of dialogue. True BUT The godawful news: It will more than likely leave your actors sounding tinny and distorted. Emphasis on the words GAWD AWFUL here!! It can also leave them sound like they've got sand in their mouths too. What you can do in Audacity, instead of relying on its Noise Removal feature, is play around with different degrees of Low Pass and Amplify until you minimize the background noise (or at least make the actor's voice jump out more). I don't even do that. In fact, I don't even use Audacity AT ALL. I use either Cool Edit Pro 2002 (The predecessor to Adobe Audition) or GoldWave. GoldWave may be a little slower, but it does a better job. Re: [videoblogging] Live internet video questions and thoughts
Hi everyone: Steve Watkins wrote: This group doesnt seem like quite the right place to talk about live video, can anybody recommend active communities that talk about and do such things? Actually Steve, this group is just as good as any IMO. Im still a bit disappointed by the video audio quality of some of the live stuff Ive watched, even if its not via mobile phone, any thoughts on which service is the best in this regard? One service comes to mind is BlogTV - http://www.blogtv.com/ You get your own show with page and (Albeit limited) archives. Each show is archived in Flash Windows Media. The only drawback is that only the Windows Media version is downloadable (I wish they'd give is a choice). The REAL advantage is that you can have up to (I believe) either a co-host and a guest or two guests that connect to you VIDEO ALL (I may be inaccurate on one or both of these points. If so, I'll stand most humbly corrected :)). The drawback to this is you don't see these additional people in the Windows Media archive (At least I've never seen one with picture-in-picture), but you DO see them in the Flash archive though. I still love vlogs but I cannot deny there is still a powerful thing that comes from live video, especially when there is live text chat at the same time. Sharing the eternal now with others is good for the soul? That thing is a little something called I-N-T-E-R-A-C-T-I-O-N with your audience. And you're right. It's something that can't be denied. And even when it comes to pre-recorded stuff, shows etc, I stil find stuff being on at a certain time or on a regular schedule has appeal. That's why keeping a schedule when doing a live show (Be it audio OR video) is VITAL to loyal listenership and/or viewership. I mean I love all the power and flexibility that videoblogs, video search, aggregating etc bring, but I do find I miss some aspects of tv (not the shows though). Almost the only time I watch TV these days is live stuff. Hopefully from those of us who stream video onto your TV screen. :) I dont know if there's any mileage in a lot of vlogs being shown in a back-to-back tv channel format, where people can tune in to see a new episode for the first time at a certain time, perhaps with live chat between creators and audience? That's what Hollywood New York would like the average Joe Blow who knows NOTHING about vlogging to believe. Why? Simple. WE ARE TRAMPLING ALL OVER THEIR BUSINESS (And they feel the pinch). WE ARE REVOLUTIONIZING THE MEDIA BECAUSE WE ARE _BECOMING_ THE MEDIA!!! I'm fairly certain that when Josh Wolf gave his vlog (And you can correct me on this if you want Josh) the title he did, it's because this IS the revolution you will not see on the politically right-wing MANIPULATED mainstream media. They'd rather keep SHOVING those so-called Reality TV shows down you rather than to show (And tell) THE TRUTH. That's how they keep you living with your head shoved up your butt and/or buried in the sand as you keep repeating the phrase There is no problem in a near-singing like fashion and live in your own private little world. Ain't that right Josh? Re: [videoblogging] Twitter the torch
Hi everyone: John Coffey wrote: This use to a fun video blogging group. Enough already! Well like it or not (And no disrespect meant) John BUT this is a POLITICAL year like no other. We haven't seen one like this since 1960 when JFK LBJ were at it in the Democratic Party, only to turn right around and team up and gang up on Vice President Richard Nixon the Republicans. And guess which party won the White House that year. Of course, when it came to issues, 1960 was tame compared to this year as we weren't at war with anybody and our economy wasn't staggeringly racing out of control (Of course that depends on your political POV). But the fact remains that as long as politics dominates the news (And I may as well say it, as long as Bush remains in the White House), there will be people like Josh Wolf (Who I might add was willing to risk INDEFINATE INCARCERATION to fight for his journalistic beliefs - AND DID!) who will appear and post about political happenings because there are many of us who are interested in hearing seeing this kind of stuff (I must admit I am one of them). Add this to the fact that the DNC takes places IN MY BACKYARD (Not that it really matters much) and that's just yet another reason why I'm interested. Since I couldn't attend the state Caucus to possibly become a Delegate, I just might show up in the designated approved gathering areas in or near Downtown Denver with cam in hand and start shooting video during the day. I doubt I'll be down there at night due to safety purposes and such. Who knows? I just might catch a few of the politically active amongst us. :) But either way (And bottom line) John is quite simply this - If you don't like reading the politically-oriented posts on here - SKIP THEM. Jay dedman wrote: This is in context to recent conversations we've had about using free video sites. At some point, these sites must understandably make a return on their investment... since they are paying big money for all this free hosting. The service's 'goodbye, cruel word' note says it was a victim of its own success, but that it proved 'it's possible to distribute true high definition video on the Internet'. What it really showed is how deliriously inefficient streaming video is, whether it's high def or otherwise. It cost at least $1m a month to run Stage6 with its 17.4 million unique users a month, whereas (at an informed guess) The Pirate Bay costs about $50,000 a month all-in for its 92.5 million. That's $57,000 per million users for Stage6; $540 per million for The Pirate Bay (not including people using its tracker without visiting the site, which adds a lot of Mininova's traffic as well, not to mention the other big indexes.) So at the very least, The Pirate Bay is a hundred and five times more efficient than Stage6 was. Jay The problem is DiVx isn't exactly a well known name whereas Google is. As such, ANY property owned by Google is going to be able to survive while supporting freeloaders because it's a bigger name. I suppose that's probably why a lot of us (Including Ryanne) use Blogger. We just KNOW it's going to be around for the long haul. I think the future of P2P is really going to be in LIVE streaming video. Of course, there are places like BlogTV and UStream TV, but let's be honest, unless they either become big names themselves or are swallowed by one, they will go the same way Stage 6 did. That's why I recommend having software from TVUNetworks handy just in case (You can get it from http://www.tvunetworks.com/). Just my opinion though... Richard More along the same lines, I've thought of doing a streaming version of DIVB-TV on Jeeper One TV (which you can find in the Winamp Media Library) that would feature SEVERAL videos per episode. But when I took the time to figure out how time and effort it would take to throw those videos ALONG with the clips of me introing each video AS WELL AS inserting my voiceover audio, I figured it would take at least a whole day. Windows Media Player itself doesn't offer very good support unofficially for MP4 (officially it doesn't even support it at all, but if you Google it or search for it on CNET, I believe MPEGable's MP4 Windows Media Plugin is still in circulation). The latest Windows version of Quicktime will support it as does the VLC Media Player (To download this player, go to http://www.videolan.org/ ). Additionally, virtually all versions of Media Player Classic (which you can get from http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/ ) will also play MP4, but its stability is about the same as Windows Media Player. [videoblogging] Can't Get Webcam XP To Send Audio Along With Video
Hi everyone: Just downloaded and installed the latest version of Webcam XP and I have to say I am impressed. :) HOWEVER it seems to have one MAJOR flaw. It doesn't seem to broadcast audio at all. :( I've tried EVERY conceivable setting imaginable. Even double and triple checked my volume control settings and everything is as it should. Have the setting to What U Hear on my SB Audigy as I type this. I even tried piping the sound through my Via AC97 Onboard Sound Chip and have the Stereo Mixer selected on it and STILL can't get Webcam XP to broadcast audio (either my own or through another source like a file). I have NO idea how to work that STUPID Microsoft Sound Mapper (which I'm trying to now - Hopefully not out of desperation). I'm currently looping the movie Night Of The Living Dead, which I pulled off the Internet Archive sometime back. I can get the video (both my own and that of other sources) to go out. That's no problem. The problem is getting the audio to go out as well. If the audio is going out, then I guess I will have just simply made a fool out of myself. :) But if the audio *isn't* going out over the Internet, I could sure use the help. One of the many places where you can find my video is http://patsvideoblog.blogspot.com/ where I decided to put an embedded viewer. I hope to use Webcam XP to do some LIVE video blogging as well as to produce entire TV shows. I may also use it to resurrect my Internet TV station too now that it has almost seamless video source switching. :) Once again, I could use all the help I can get. If you can help, it'd be MUCH appreciated. I look forward to your reply :) Cheers for now :) Pat Cook [EMAIL PROTECTED] (FEEDBACK EMAIL) Denver, Colorado PAT'S VIDEO BLOG - http://patsvideoblog.blogspot.com/ DIVB-TV | THE DUMBASS IDIOTS VIDEO BLOG - http://dumbassidiots.blogspot.com/ RSS FEEDS ON EACH PAGE PAT'S PODCAST VIDEO BLOG MESSAGE BOARD - http://patspodcast.proboards36.com/ SKYPE ME @ patspodcast Yahoo! I get a good sense of satisfaction from the things I create. I can attempt to have control over the creation process. It keeps me sane. Why do I write, draw, record audio, and shoot video? The incentive is not the almighty dollar, that's for sure... As cliché as the I do it for myself thing might sound, it's pretty much true. Right again Pete. :-) Why do you think I do my podcast Clint? Because I ENJOY IT. Why do I write my little online soap opera I have Clint? Because I ENJOY IT. Why do you think I run a video blog of stupid people Clint? Because I ENJOY IT SEE THE HUMOR IN THE STUPIDITY OF OTHERS (when there is humor to see of course :-) ). Neither of these things are done for the specific purpose of makin' a sh*tload of $$$. (Also, I think you may be confusing good with popular) Naah Pete. I think he's just confusing doing stuff out of enjoyment with doing stuff for a living. Good, then in a world without copyright, what I'll do is I'll just watch for what you're creating and as soon as I see something I like, I'll call it my own and commercialize it. Work for hire is bad enough, a world without copyright is anarchy, and the people who would be getting screwed the most would be the ones creating works. It's a good point to make in the case of the artists vs. the record labels. But do you honestly believe it would be anarchist if someone thinks that a simple song such as HAPPY BIRTHDAY should be made public domain? C'mon Clint.. What you're missing is that copyright is necessary to give people the incentive to keep creating, because I guarantee the first time I took what you did and made a fortune on it that was rightfully yours, your motivation to be creative would certainly be impaired. Ask some people who have had famous works taken away from them under work for hire clauses and see how they feel about trying to make a living as a creative person. Only difference is Clint, we're not talking about just any ordinary piece of work here. We're talking about a song that's just as universal (if not more so) around the world as Jingle Bells. Big difference dude. That's not to say copyright is a perfect system. You're right. It's not. There are many issues with it right now that need to be resolved so that the public's freedom's are protected. It's certainly better than the alternative though. And just what would that be in your mind Clint? Anarchy? C'mon. You're not giving the American people enough credit. Sure, a middle ground needs to be reached. But either way you look at it, the path is just as long and wide. Just a few things to think about. :-) Cheers for now everyone :-) Pat Cook Denver, Colorado AS PAT'S WORLD TURNS - http://aspatsworldturns.blogspot.com/ PAT'S REAL DEAL BLOG - http://patsrealdeal.blogspot.com/ PAT'S PODCAST - http://patspodcast.blogspot.com/ PAT'S VIDEO BLOG - http://patsvideoblog.blogspot.com/ DUMBASS IDIOTS VIDEO BLOG - http://dumbassidiots.blogspot.com/ AGAINST THE STORM (Online Soap Opera) - http://againstthestorm.blogspot.com/ RSS Feeds Available On Each Page YAHOO!
