Re: Apple Care+ or other insurance products.
This includes an upgrade service so most users would get a brand new phone after a year. Many who would normally buy a new iPhone each year will love this combination of an insurance plan and an upgrade plan. With each new release, there’s something new to love about the iPhone. Mr. Ed, we agree. we have 4 iPhones and never had any trouble with them, until recently one of the iPhone's battery and screen had to be replaced, and that was done for $120 at batteries plus. Mr. Ed, That’s why I asked the question. If you assume Apple Care Plus covers for two years, $18 a month times 24 months is $432 and $15 a month times 24 months is $360 under the cell phone provider insurance plans so Apple Care Plus doesn’t seem quite as expensive. Hello, It depends on the phone. For my iPhone 12 I pay $18 a month. For some of the Android phones my son has had it was %15 a month. Re: Apple Care+ or other insurance products.
I've also used the phone insurance offered through AT I think they cover 2 incidents per year. IMO, if you take reasonably good care of your phone and use some common sense, that should be enough. I forget the year, but when my wife had an iPhone 5 many years ago, she damaged the phone somehow and the insurance sent her a brand new 5S. She's been careful not to lose the phone. She has dropped the phone before, so now both of us have Tek Armour screen protectors, which are high-grade and bullet proof. We also put cases on our phones. Both of these have protected the phones from most drops. If we leave our phones somewhere then that would be an issue, but over the years she has gotten better about this. I usually have several places my phone could be around the home and don't lose my phone that often. To each their own. One other thing; when my wife had the iPhone 7, she did shatter her screen. I can be ridiculous about keeping packaging, but when you get a new phone each year, they often come with some papers or sticker you have to include when you send the old phone back. When we came home with our new 7's, my wife through away the special items from the new phone's packaging. So, when she had to return the shattered screen phone to AT, she didn't have the particular return label or item to send with it. I remarked to her that Apple would take the damaged phone in whatever condition, and she ended up getting a trade-in on it. Hi Greg, Thanks for your reply about T-Mobile insurance for your iPhone and your claims experience. How much do you pay for the insurance and is it monthly or a one time payment. In response to Sieghard, I have not collected on an insurance claim through my credit card. Re: Apple Care+ or other insurance products.
Apple Care Plus is too limiting. I used the insurance plan from my cell phone company. It covers theft as well as faults with the device and any accidental damage. It also offers an upgrade to the new iPhone version each year. Kelly On 5/4/21, Sieghard Weitzel wrote: > Have you ever tried to collect from a credit card insurance plan? Re: Apple Care+ or other insurance products.
I agree that Apple Care+ is expensive for an iPhone 12 Pro Max 120Gb about £199.00 unfortunately apart from the USA and Japan apparently no cover for loss or theft is offered. I’ve looked at a range of companies with a wide range of prices and excesses. Many state that you should take reasonable care of your device which is understandable and some suggest not letting it unattended and out of sight. I wonder how if at all being blind would affect you making a claim or the coverage offered us? Then there’s the quality of any repair, what effect would that have on the resale value of a device if not undertaken by Apple. Obviously an iPhone is expensive to replace so protection may be an attractive proposition. The house and insurance policy are in my mother’s name as I returned here after my divorce. RE: Apple Care+ or other insurance products.
Hi Malcolm, I'm not normally a fan of insurance for electronics but I make the exception with Apple Care Plus for my iPhones. Since the iPhone is pricey and since I'm carrying it around with me and often using it around potential hazards like open toilets, I've decided to pony up for Apple Care Plus whenever I purchase a new iPhone. I'll have to price its cost when I get my next new iPhone since I haven't used Apple Care to replace a phone since my iPhone 5's headphone jack died. Sieghard, I think that is a great idea. I have not bought Apple Care lately because of the cost. Now, $30 a year sounds well worth it! -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Sieghard Weitzel Sent: Tuesday, May 4, 2021 11:59 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: RE: Apple Care+ or other insurance products. I find that Apple Care Plus now is so expensive especially if you have a Pro phone that I personally don't buy it any more. I have my iPhone insured as part of my home insurance where it is listed as a separate item and I think it's something like $30 or $40 a year. The good thing in my opinion is that for one thing this also covers loss or theft and secondly if I keep my phone for more than 2 years I still have coverage whereas Apple Care Plus is done after 2 years. Of course you have to check with your particular insurance company what all the conditions are, e.g. if you did have a claim, would that effect your overall home insurance rate, what exactly is covered, e.g. what if you drop it and the screen breaks etc. I did loose my iPhone 6S Plus many years ago and my home insurance paid me the full purchase price at the time without fuss and I didn't even have to send in a receipt or anything, they sent me a cheque and said it was up to me what I wanted to do with it, e.g. buy a new iPhone 6S Plus or a different phone or whatever. -Original Message- From: viphone@googlegroups.com On Behalf Of Malcolm Parfitt Sent: Tuesday, May 4, 2021 8:52 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Apple Care+ or other insurance products. RE: Apple Care+ or other insurance products.
You have a good point their Sieghard on the increased price. Maybe it isn't worth it on the pro models. I will check with our insurance, that is a good deal. RE: Apple Care+ or other insurance products.
I always had Renters insurance when I rented, and of course, now that we are buying, home owners insurance. I always buy Apple Care and it has been worth it on 3 different occasions in the second year, which is really what you are paying for. Once, it was even good 3 months beyond the 2 years. In brief, my wife's first iPad Mini wouldn't keep Wi-Fi connections. Since I occasionally use it, I called Apple Accessibility. Got a great guy who spent 90 minutes with us trouble shooting and sent us to the store to have the usual system reinstall. It worked for about 30 minutes. Called the Apple Accessibility guy back the next day (he had given us his extension.) He spent another 2 and a half hours trying his best to fix it when he determined it was a Wi-Fi antenna failure. This was an iPad Mini 2. He said, and I quote, "Aple can afford to give you a replacement." So, he arranged for her to get an iPad Mini 2, refurbished, which is still functional though only used with the Great, Great, Nephews. I bought her the iPad mini 5 when it came out since the old one was so out of date etc Don't expect that from all Apple Accessibility people.
