Got a nice surprise today. I had left the family room, went to the

Earlier this evening I suddenly thought about how often the actor Allan
Melvin appeared in Mayberry. I came up with 8 instances, all of which
were well-portrayed IMHO. Then I went on and realized what an
illustrious career he had with other shows. Remember him as Sam,

The distance between Mayberry and Richmond, VA is only one of many
discrepancies on our favorite shows. The writers failed to investigate
things, they repeated things, they changed things in later episodes;

washed-up comedian. He did a short stint onstage and was united with a
show-biz dog that was heartwarming. He had aged somewhat but still just

I just remembered the Brady Bunch episode where the mother lost her
voice just before Christmas. When the father took the kids to the mall
to see Santa, little Cindy asked him to restore her mother's voice so
she could sing in church for the holiday service. The Santa was

TCM aired a 1948 movie titled June Bride the other day. I was stitching
so not watching it closely when I recognized a voice. Looked up and saw
our Thelma Lou appearing beautifully in this Bette Davis film. Who knew
she traveled in such well-known circles? I feel she is a real charming

I, for one, love many of the color episodes. My favorite is the one
depicting the ultimate in friendship: when Clara gives up the blue
ribbon and subsequent appearance in the seed catalog to Bee for her

infection and stones to boot; spent two days in hospital (what a trauma

Mayberry. In our family (I was the oldest of 7 kids) you weren't allowed
outside unaccompanied till you were 5yo. But that was about the only

Well, TAGS alumni have been on my screen a lot lately. First I noticed
Earle Hagen in the credit list as musical director of an old Cary Grant
film called Monkey Business. Then in a movie I had saved on the DVR,

Due to my vertigo, I've been at home watching lots of movies lately.

Last night on a re-run of Major Crimes, one of the characters called the
other Barney Fife. Even tho it was used negatively, I couldn't help but

I was plumb tickled to see Opie on Dennis the Menace this morning! I
always thought TAGS was his first gig but this episode was dated May

Oops, I think I answered my own dumb question about guns by remembering
when Gentleman Dan Caldwell stole Barn's gun. When Andy mistakenly
thought it was completely empty, he pulled the trigger several times and
it only made a faint clicking sound till that one bullet Barney inserted
came
I googled this but couldn't find an answer. If a gun does not have any
bullets in it, as Barney's often did not, when you pull the trigger,
does it still make a noise? I've often wondered that whenever his went

I must share a personal moment recently. When I received the latest
Bullet, I felt compelled to go shopping at Weaver's. Well, with all the
new items available, I had a spree. When the big box arrived, it was
like having another Christmas, as Opie said that time he went shopping
