Consider the case of Daitsu Chisho Buddha. He sat in meditation for 10
kalpas without attaining complete liberation. You might want to read up
on his "case" - which is number 8 in the Mumonkan. His life is also
discussed in chapter 7 of the Lotus Sutra.

P.S. For the mumonkan
acing. That doesn't mean that
everyone who meditates inside the temple will be facing east, though. It
means that the big Buddha on the altar is facing east. The temple that I
practice at faces west, though - but when I am facing toward the Buddha
I am facing east.

There is a very nice group in Washington DC called the Mintwood Zendo.
Even if you are not in that area you might contact them anyway to ask if
anyone there knows of groups closer to you. Their website is:

This is overly simplistic. In theory what is said here should also apply
to Christians - and yet many Christian individuals and many Christian
churches are extremely homophobic.

the
desire to be "comfortable and welcomed" is part of our delusional state,
but so is the very need for Sangha in the first place.

discovers that there is a Zen Center in Springfield - she goes there and
who else but Lenny and Carl are there! They basically tell Lisa to chill
out and enjoy Christmas with her family.
Last night I went to a Wiccan Yule ritual. It was great. Very Un- Zen -
and, therefore, very very very Zen.

But probably this question cannot be taken seriously - anyone who cannot
distinguish between Wicca and Satanism doesn't know anything about
either one.
