That is what is meant by linear. And yes it is correct.
Try a Mitsusushi Eclipse GSX you will feel the lag.
It kicks in around 2400-2500rpms. It's not horrible lag,
but it is still there. I am not cutting on Turbo's, I like them
I don't think anyone here was putting them down (Please keep this in mind
Terrin).
They are great, but for some 4 grand is out of their range
and some just want to add some linear power to their vehicle.
That is the goal, not to say that Turbo's aren't good or anything.
As far as your next email goes:
<<
oh, i did not know that there was a huge $1395 price difference between the
two. That is a BIG factor! But what about maintaince and reliability for
both "air crushers" with the identical hp goals on a daily driven stock
ga16de?
>>

the maintenance is more strict on a turbo'd vehicle. You need to be
religious about oil changes and worry about coking in the turbo. The SC
you can do the regular 3000 mile oil change and if you go over it is not as
big a deal. Like I said, there are advantages to a turbo, but there are
millions
of factors involved in wanting a supercharger instead. Price and maintenance
are two plus the average accessories you need with a supercharger is fuel
pump
upgrade, and a boost gauge. There are tons of turbo accessories you will
want to buy.
So price is definitely a factor. Choices are an important thing to have.
Base whatever decision you make on every factor. If you have a choice, you
can do that. You can say, oh, I have $5000 to spend and I want big
horsepower
and I don't care if it's linear or not. Go with a turbo. Nobody is saying
don't do it
if you've got the cash and right now that is your only choice.
