I know this, when you change the fulcrum to make it shorter, then YES, it 
will require more force for YOU to shift.  BUT, it doesn't mean you are 
transmitting MORE force to the transmission.  It still require the same 
force to get your car into gear if you take a reference point from say the 
shift rod, after the fulcrum point.
