Intake of non-bioavailable calcuim might cause bodily *calcuim deposits*
without explaining calcium *loss* form the bones.  I'd also consider the
level of environmental fluorides.  Fluroide pulls dissolved calcium out
of the saliva & deposits it on the teeth.  When injested, however, this
effect surely inflicted on the rest of the body, resulting in general
deprivation of ionic calcium.
