Are you sure James? Can you point me to sources that are reliable that say rabies can be passed in a dried product? I believe it requires contact with blood or saliva.
Histoplasmosis on the other hand could be passed, and can be contracted from bird droppings as well. It is not a virus but a fungus and has the ability to sporolate, making it able to survive drying. Most immune competent people are not at risk unless exposed to intense concentrations of the spores or live organisms.
