Polycom just provided sip.ld 3.2.4 to some of its' partners including Avaya.
We have it installed at one customer with SCS 4.0 systems who was using
3.2.3 sip.ld in support of Shared Line Appearance and encountering the "one
ring, role to voicemail" issue caused by the phone issuing a 400 Bad Request
to the INVITE. This is the problem Tony has described. It has been running
for a couple of days in limited distribution without the issue being
reported.

I have looked at the Polycom support web site and they have yet to publish
3.2.4 on the web site. You might want to check with the company from which
you purchased the Polycom phones to see if they can get the software for
you.

Subject: Re: [sipx-users] Intermittent Handset Issues with Polycom 335s

3.2.1RevB has problems with calls returning from hold
(http://track.sipfoundry.org/browse/XTRN-942) and 3.1.3RevC can't be used on
the 335's (they're too new) - the only version I've found to work is 3.2.2,
which still has problems with shared lines...
I remember seeing some talk of a 3.2.4 bugfix release on the way - Has
anyone heard anything more about it?

I'm really hoping we end up with support for 3.3.x sooner rather than
later... Im, guessing this won't make 4.4 - Is it planned for 4.6?

3.2.3 has some known issue too. Realize, as an example, 3.2.3 exhibits this
known behavior:

user comes in first thing in the morning. Their phone rings, a partial ring
one time, then stops. Their voicemail light starts blinking.

If the network segment where the phone has any latency 20-30ms, it sends the
call to voicemail. I'd stay away from 3.2.3 also, but that's me.

Tony,

I was incorrect, I checked the phones this morning and they are running
3.2.3. I will give 3.2.1 a try to see if it makes a difference.

You are in uncharted territory.

Are you manually running the polycom config update tool against the 3.3.0
(3.3.x configs are not supported in sipxconfig yet at all, btw)? If not, I'd
recommend backing to 3.2.1b or 3.1.3RevC on this! Polycom has since released
3.3.1, but it is very likely the config is valid for the phone, but not for
sipxecs. The 3.3.x configs vary greatly, so the config being generated by
sipxconfig is probably causing the issue, get thee back to known waters.

Tony,
sipXECS is version 4.2.1-018971.dhubler. I believe the Polycom IP 335 is
running firmware version: 3.3.0. I will double check this in the morning.

What is the firmware on it? What is the version of sipxecs?

All,

We recently have run into some intermittent issues with some of our
Polycom 335s. I am wondering if anyone else has run into this. When phone
rings, and is answered it continues to ring. If our techs hits the hook
flash several times it will eventually answer. Sometimes the call will go
directly to speakerphone even though the handset was lifted. I have upgraded
the software as well as did a full file system format, however, the phones
continue to experience this odd behavior.

Has anyone seen this with this model? Should I RMA/replace?
