Is the LSI3108 on the HCL? I've never had this part in my lab nor have I seen anything explicit go by adding support for it to mpt_sas. IIRC, this is one of the devices that would be supported by the work that Andy Giles is doing porting over some random LSI code from FreeBSD, but that's not yet in the gate. > One question I have is how would you setup the 10 drives if we wanted to have > 2 of the bays with SSD’s for cache. > > 7 disk raidz1 + spare ? The default answer is "the way that disklayout would". See the sources at github.com/joyent/smartos-live. > Also the onboard controller only has 8 SAS ports on it which seems a > little odd. Why is that odd? It's fairly typical for a SAS controller to have 8 lanes. If you read between the lines, they assume you're using all SATA disks and will just wire up 8 of them to the 3108 and 2 to the AHCI ports. Crap config if you ask me, but they didn't. ------------------------------------------- smartos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/25769125-55cfbc00 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=25769125&id_secret=25769125-7688e9fb Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
