Oh, so it's HW RAID then.  Yuck.  But if it's in the list, then it's
probably supported.

SmartOS doesn't use it currently.  SDC does.  If you want to create a
pool yourself, just create one called zones by any method you like, then
go through the installer as usual.  Your pool will be used rather than
creating a new one.

No, this chassis has a SAS expander so there is no need for an HBA lane
for every disk.  The SSDs in that chassis are installed in a separate
rear-mounted cage attached to the AHCI controller.  This is not optimal;
it's a nasty compromise and the primary reason I'm trying to eliminate
this SKU from our line.
