Oh, so it's HW RAID then. Yuck. But if it's in the list, then it's probably supported. > I have had a look at disklayout thanks ! How does one use that to setup a new > machine ? SmartOS doesn't use it currently. SDC does. If you want to create a pool yourself, just create one called zones by any method you like, then go through the installer as usual. Your pool will be used rather than creating a new one. > I see that the E1R12L which is in the joyent manufacturing list has the same > setup with the standard 8 SAS ports, do you add another card into that > machine for the other 8 drives to have SAS throughout ? Also are you putting > the SSD’s into the expander for slog ? No, this chassis has a SAS expander so there is no need for an HBA lane for every disk. The SSDs in that chassis are installed in a separate rear-mounted cage attached to the AHCI controller. This is not optimal; it's a nasty compromise and the primary reason I'm trying to eliminate this SKU from our line. ------------------------------------------- smartos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/25769125-55cfbc00 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=25769125&id_secret=25769125-7688e9fb Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
