The plain (non-RAID) HBAs usually cost *less* than RAID controllers, often quite a lot less. The only way this argument makes sense is if you're comparing a chip-down RAID controller that isn't optional with turning that off and buying an HBA. The correct answer there is to not do business with companies that mandate chip-down RAID controllers; the next best answer is to just eat the $200 or so as the cost of doing business with them. Unobservable and unmanageable storage systems are not an option IMO. > I have a lot of RAID cards (also on Sun/Oracle hardware!) that cannot be > used as JBOD, so I've configured them using RAID0 for each disk. You still won't get errors. ------------------------------------------- smartos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/184463/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/184463/25769125-55cfbc00 Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=25769125&id_secret=25769125-7688e9fb Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
