When I said solve I did not refer to equipment but how the communication
was supposed to flow.

OK, let's step back. You might just do this for fun and learning, not
intended for any practical use. Or, trying it out to see how you could
use it. Versus having a specific real life need.

In case of the latter then you need to establish some objectives, such
as a web server for internal or external use. Without that information
it becomes hard to design it.

If it's just for learning then you will still have to come up with a
design objective.

As far as SmartOS goes you can have each of them work almost any way you
want. The biggest limitation is to recognize that the host is only for
hosting virtual servers and not a traditional server. Each of the VM's
may that be a SmartOS virtual machine referred to as a Zone, or a KVM
virtual machine which can run whatever OS you choose. (The Wiki
elaborates on that.)

The VMs can all have whatever network access you choose.

You have not yet answered why you need separate subnets, which if you
are unclear yourself will be a stumbling block until you decide what
their purposes are. We certainly can't help you here until you do.

What are you going to use four physical servers for, what is going to be
running on them?
