She came up with a pair of names- there was Russco- he was the
senior most operative, next to the toadie, by rank, experience, number of
missions, and by any other measurable method. He was passed over a few
times for outpost command or the top operative slot because he had a habbit
of being insubordinate- aka mouthy. But if his own brand of insubordination
was what Kitanya saw this day- care for his team and for the mission (in
that order)- then perhaps he was politically black balled and she could
remedy that.
She also came up with the station OPS officer (LT. Trell)- the being
charged with the actual running of the station. he had some field
expereince and some intell analysis expereince too, but he was not as
seasoned as Russco. Trell was not a bad choice. In what he lacked in years
of experience he more than made up for with his decision and leadership
ability. Past commanding officers had given very high marks for both traits
. She was left wtih two very good candidates, and several positions....

Her look into Brell's record was equally amusing. He rose through
the ranks rather quickly, apparently through political contacts. His first
assignment - attache to the Liason Officer for the Federation Council- had
obviously gotten him at least a few friends. He also served under the a
number other high ranking officers, all of which had written him good
letters of commendation. She read between the lines on several of his
action reprots as a team leader, and it would seem that he was promoted out
of the position because his men hated him and thought of him as
incompetitant. Reading more carefully at some of those commendations also
would suggest that some of his promotions were to get him out of the way and
out of direct field command where he could get beings killed.

Before she could react to Brell, she got a call. It was Capt.
Auerellius.
"Admiral Kitanya, i am sorry to disturb you, but I have some news
for you. It would seem as if your aide is looking for you. The Tellerite
has some information that you have been wanting. I told him that you would
be happy to take care of it when you return."
