The two officers came in as ordered. Naturally the knocked first,
and entered when permission was given. They had both expected to see
Brell and his litle lacky there, but they found only Vice Admiral Kitanya.
Their faces shown their mild surprise, but it was not a thing that they
truely cared about either. Their faces displayed that emotion too.

Russco was very surprised. She had said that there would be
changes, but he did nto think, not even in his wildest imagination, that
she would do something so drastic so quickly.
The two men looked at each other before Russco replied..

"Admiral, will you be taking over as CO, at least for the interm until a
new CO and XO are selected?" the LCMR asked politely, yet more than
slightly happy that the buggers were to be taked off the station and sent
to administrative limbo.

Trell spoke up first, as he read faster than Russco, "Thank you
Admiral. Thank you very much. I am honored at your selection, and I
assure you that you will not be dissapointed with your choice."

Russco, who had just finished reading his orders, added, "Admiral,
thank you. Not just for the promotion, but for listening to us here in
the field. Mr. Trell and I will do our absolute best and then some to
make sure that you are proud of your decision and of us. Thank you."
Both men were speaking honestly and with a genuine sincereity (sp). They
were not ass kissers. However, their honor and happiness was tempered by
the realization that they were not responsible for not only for successful
operations, but for the lives of the men under their new command. As
happy as they were they were also feeling the weight of the change.
