sure did..tom, thanks for the heads up though. I am not an expert
like some here but I have a pretty good idea how to keep things
going, but this last circumstance has really "p_ss_d" me off. It's
not like I did anything to the setup to elicit this set up problems.
OH well....

I have been having bus problems its seems, but maybe not that alone.
I have also a lot of problems with TCP/IP matters using 9.1 and my
s900. I frequently have to re activate TCP/IP. Mixed in there are
problems with the ATI video card (old rage 8mb card) and the drivers
for 9.1 Quicktime takes forever to load (1 minute) Toss in the
"voodoo" like nature of card mixing that exists on some s900's.
Though I didn't change anything after I got things working well last
year, finally something went wrong, which led to other things it
seems. I keep this machine in a pretty hot room, mb that was the
start.

Mix them all together and they have gone batty on me and left me
really frustrated and angry.

Funny up til now the G3 upgrade gave me no problems since i put it in
over 2 years ago. It was rock solid. Now...well its just gone with
no apparent reason.

It's very very frustrating. Time to move this s900 to the "tinker"
area and not as my main machine. Last year in may I had a somewhat
similar problems, but somehow worked around them to get a stable
system...uptil now that is.

Right now I am looking at buying an apple machine.

don't get me wrong I love my umax, but its got harder to work with.
Because I do add things and bring in a variety of software to my
machine and well that's always an invitation for things to go wrong I
suppose.

I wish I had done something to make this machine go out on me
....then I would have a better idea how to deal with it. I keep
thinking it might all originate with heat problems..but there is no
way right now to "test" that.

As it is....I removed the tempo IDE card.
shutdown my ati drivers.
put the old 604 back in.
and have done the usual variety of things trouble shooting extensions, etc.

If/when I actualy get this sorted out perhaps I will have some
knowledge that will help others here.

anyway....
