Can you connect the Turntable straight to the computer, or do you need the amp (with it's "phono" inputs) between the computer and turntable? I had heard in the past that it was a Bad Thing to connect the turntable directly to the computer, as the outputs of the turntable needed to be modified (by being run through the amp) to become true line level outputs.
