It records fine under Win98, like it's supposed to. I doubt that
Toshiba was worried about supporting the same capabilities under a DOS
system. I'm not really surprised; after all, this Toshiba Satellite
notebook was designed for Win98, and they surely hadn't anticipated
satisfying someone desiring to record sound under DOS when designing this
"low-end" notebook system. But I've done just about everything else I
wanted to do with it under DOS. At least it plays wav, voc and midi files
well under DOS -- and for that matter, sound is not a *critical* issue for
my sort of work, especially since I'm not blind. We know that recording
with DOS has been well established with important programs, like your own
Blaster Master, and there are other more difficult challenges for DOS than
sound programs.

The "set" command indicates the following under the PC DOS 2000 partition:

BLASTER=A220 I5 D0 T3
MIDI=SYNTH:1 MAP:E

The only time I got an IRQ error message I when I tried to use a DOS
recorder program (compatible with the SB) under a DOS session in Win98. The
setup utility with the sbpup.exe package doesn't allow me to alter the IRQ
from 5 to 7; it seems there's only *one* configuration of settings it'll
accept, and nothing else.
