If I were driving a 1932 roadster, i would not expect the garage's in town
to stock parts or manuals or generally have a clue about it, i would have
to seek out a specialty/custom shop, if there were any at all, for any
repairs.  I would not be surprised if I bought a new car stereo for it and
was told that the stereo installer didn't know how to integrate it into the
6 volt wiring system on the 1932 automobile.
this is much like what you are doing in terms of operating systems, if not
hardware.
