I think you either missed or chose the ignore the bit where it requires '20MB of RAM for text mode'. I posted the link since it was relevant to the discussion of newbie Linux users who download BasicLinux even though they aren't running on survivor-class hardware, and want to see some eyecandy. The bloated KDE monstrosity may require 90+ MB, but it's certainly eyecandy and a very nice way to show off the system. I'd be willing to bet Knoppix will boot in something like 32MB to a graphical desktop (there's a choice of KDE, GNOME, Fluxbox, fvwm, twm, and others I believe) if one doesn't want to load KDE. And there's always the option of setting up a swapfile; I'll give it a go later and see how it works out. BTW, I see machines with 128MB of RAM being junked routinely these days. I reckon within a year or so anything less than 256MB will be 'survPC' -- it's disgusting, but that's the unstoppable march of Progress for you. Regards, Ben A L Jemmett.
