Hi Bonnie and Eckhard, It seems to me that you are addressing special types of designs for card weaving, possibly brocading and double-faced weaves. Is that correct? In case you go ahead with designing and implementing a design tool I like to be in the loop when it comes to designing the input format. It would be nice if we can achieve compatibility between tools. This way the user writes down a designs once and then has a choice of tools. I'll be happy to tell you all about the input format used for the weaving tools of The Loomy Bin. (many examples are out there on the website already for you to look at.)
