In geek culture, "known fact" does equal "desperate (fill in the blank) wish". And I'd bet most on this listserve 'know' that Serenity was awesome and that those that disagree are just wrong :)

Thus he has NO track record for being a successful film director. Hence my concern for the Avengers film.
