AHA! That is BIG news! Other than a "home made federated system" which is currently a pipe dream this is the only alternative to GG that I can imagine supporting a switch to - assuming they execute it well and it is user friendly also for people who don't use Github (...I almost include myself in this category). The closeness to the issue-reporting and PR's should (or at least *could*) be very valuable for the project. I really hope they make a good design.
