What I mean is that when I just change the channels one at a time they change
ok but if I select the numbers from the remote I get a
blank screen; again most of my problems happen with the digital higher HD
channels. I don't use the Grid Guide.

Another strange thing just happened. The TV was working fine, recording two
programs. When I went to Now Playing and clicked on one
of the programs recording, the TV froze , just like a computer. Absolutely
nothing I pressed on made any difference, except Power. I
powered it off, waited, turned it back on but it was still frozen.. Repeated
this a few times, looked in my Manual for Screen
Freezes or anything similar, but couldn't find anything to explain the cause
or a remedy. I pulled the plug and am Powering Up now
but getting a screen saying that it is 'Preparing the service update. This may
take up to an hour, possible longer.'

Do you think an Update, would just interrupt broadcasting like that?

I've never heard of that. So you can change up/down through the
channels one at a time OK. Can you enter a channel number directly
from the number pad on the remote as well? How are you using the
guide to try to change to a channel? If you're using the TiVo Guide
you should be able to just highlight a channel and hit 'Select'. If
you're using the Grid Guide you should just highlight a program and
then hit 'Select'.

What are you seeing?

BTW, that's Channel/Page - the button changes the channel or pages
through menus, depending on where you are in the system.

Hmm. That could be a problem with the signal level. Not sure if a
pairing or card problem could cause that.
