If you can tune to channels at once you can record two channels at once. If you toggle between the tuners, one of them isn't working? Note that the unit only needs the CableCARDs for encrypted channels, so the best test is to tune one tuner to a channel you know needs the card, then toggle to the other tuner and tune that one to a *different* channel that needs the card. Then toggle back and forth.
