John may correct me if I'm wrong, but another huge benefit of the Touch
over the USB adapter is the fact that the Touch's ethernet interface is
completely asynchronous with the computer. The USB interface on the
other device is likely not asynchronous, and jitter level will depend
to some degree on the computer itself. I don't know the details of this
other device, but I strongly suspect an external clock brought into the
Touch will reduce jitter much more than one brought into the other
device, because of the asynchronous ethernet interface.

The other huge benefit in my mind is the complete home music server
network provided by the Squeezebox. A modded Touch driving the main
hifi and lesser squeezeboxes, etc, scattered aroung the house.

I personally am looking forward to stripping down the Touch to the
level of ethernet-to-I2S converter, and from what I have read here,
this should be a digital interface to my DAC without peer.
