The USB interface on the "other device" *is* asynchronous: I stand corrected. The Hiface interface appears to use an ansynchronous USB driver, no mean feat (although the specific hardware device you are referring to is apparently not yet available). I obviously had not heard of this device, but when you said it was asynchronous, that made it worth my time to look into it. This does look like a very interesting interface, probably with digital capabilities equal to the Touch. However, I plan to stay with the Squeezebox platform. For example, I am currently listening to my modded SB Receiver, driven by a Tent oscillator located within inches of my DAC chip (also 1541A), connected by I2S directly to the DAC, and (importantly) controlled by my cell phone in my hand, which BTW also will give me real-time lyrics to the song I am listening to, should I desire. This same cell phone will control all the squeezeboxes in my home (synced to the main stereo), as well as the squeezeboxes in my office at work and at my beach house, all connected by the ethernet to my music server in my home. The Squeezbox platform is the difference. Foobar/Hiface undoubtedly sounds as good, and I thank you for pointing this out. BYW I don't understand your condescending/aggressive tone in this thread.
