My two cents. For me actually the SBT is not usable with my external HDD on USB (1.5tb of lossless music): after 8 hours of scan I've got an error and the db was not created correctly.
So I've connected the HHD to a nas with many problems, but now I can listen the music on it. What's the problem? I can not made a folder navigation on the HDD and this is a BIG problem, because I have a LARGE amount of albums and songs on this drive and many songs got wrong tags, many files got wrong names, and so on, so I miss A LOT the simple folder navigation. I think that the long time for scanning is principally a hardware related problem: the Touch is not able in handling large external drive and this is a great problem. So, what's my idea? A way to solve this situation is (for me) simple: change the software and let the user choose: - to disable definitely the scanning process on usb drive and to use only folder navigation; or - to enable the scanning process only manually (for example: the first connection, to use only the db stored on the same drive, and repeat the scan process to update the db only when the user want) or - to let the scanning process with the same behaviour as now.
