It says that the operating comapnies should publish interface standards. That is reinforced in Article 4 of the Directive<< The article 26 specifies that ETSI has a role to produce harmonized standards etc.. >>Again, that is clause 26 of the pre-amble, not of the Directive. Article 5 of the Directive asserts that compliance with a harmonised standard is compliance with the essential requirements of the Directive. They don't have to be CTRs, they are simply voluntary standards that are published in the OJ.<< Than article 5 talks about harmonized standards. So how can you say CTR,s are gone.. >>The CTRs will be gone, NOT harmonised standards<< What I see that it will be big mess with a manufacturer applying partial requirements as he feels it suits him. >>Don't think so. Manufacturers hate to produce equipment that does not work and therefore does not sell. They must meet the essential requirements of the Directive, and they must meet the requirements of paying customers. Where's the big mess ? I would agree that life does not get any easier for the manufacturer when moving from prescribed requirements to more speculative requirements. There is an increased risk.<< Vic Boersma
