Hmmm, this is a) one data point, and b) has more to do with AT&T's reception (vs Sprint?) in your specific area than anything else. So yes, for you, if AT&T reception sucks in your area, don't buy an iPhone, but that's hardly going to be a ubiquitous issue!

We could both use our devices as phones, mp3 players, calendar/address books. Switch to an iPhone? Are you out of your mind?
