Hi Aarre,

I don't know what either Gandhi, JC or Buddha would do - I just know
that I would do some damage to the miscreant you describe.

Whilst in the CoS I had a long period of wrestling with conscience
during which I continued to have situations occur which required force.

After deciding to use force as long as I was earth bound and the
situation warranted my forceful intervention - I had no further
occurrences.

I do think that one pulls in these sits in more than one way. One way is
by obsessively planning attacks and/or defenses. Another is by deluding
oneself, that by not anticipating a possible attack, it will not happen.
Or having the belief that bad things only happen to the unenlightened.
The invasion and occupation of Tibet by China comes to mind.

I prefer being prepared. Securing one's home and coaching kids in what
to do in cases of attack or emergency I think are necessary precautions.

For Scout training I set up simulated scenes for first aid, fire drills,
being trapped in a lift, survival in various conditions etc, etc.

BTW - I am not in complete agreement with TROM ethics. I have an
aversion to absolutes like "Never".

Thanks for broaching the subject. Or should I say braving the subject?

Martin
