Hi Aarre My point is that you will only see muggers beating up old ladies if you have a compulsion to interfere as the hero in the situation.
To play the game or not play the game is the question? If you realize that it is a game you have a compulsion to see and take a role in then i have made my point. Weather you take the role or not is up to you. All the arguments as to why you should take action are only justifications you create to do what your reactive mind is compelling you to do. You are a very creative individual so i won't try to convince you that you should not take action. hope that helps. One thing I still haven't resolved though. Can you elucidate to me what I should do if I see a mugger beating up an old lady to steal her money, or worse yet, just for the thrills. I know that she is motivating and postulated it, and so forth, but it's still wrong for him to do this, and for her to 'receive' this. If it's life threatening to her, should I go over and knock his bloody lights to kingdom come? Surely I can't just allow it to happen, otherwise haven't I commited a contrasurvival action of omission 'overt'? This is a very wide encompassing philosophical point I've wondered upon for a long time. Thanks, Aarre Peltomaa On Wed, Jan 5, 2011 at 4:48 PM, Pete McLaughlin <[email protected]> wrote:
