I doubt anyone is saying that. But if you are familiar with the details of the case you know that it is not at all clear that Polanski knew, or reasonably should have known, that she was underage, that he settled a civil suit with her years ago, and that she has said that the only part of this incident that continues to cause her and her family any pain is that the incompetent and unethical handling of it by the DA and judge have prevented her from putting it completely behind her. I would never dream of defending Polanski's habit at the time of promiscuous sex with young (but over 17) girls, often with alcohol and drugs involved. I knew a lot of girls in those days who were involved in that scene, and it was not good. But it is very clear that with any kind of decent judge and DA, this case would have been satisfactorily resolved several decades ago. If Polanski had been willing to take a chance, the case most likely would have been resolved a long time ago satisfactorily anyway, but he (perhaps understandably) has never been able to trust the LA legal system. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
