Again, you are just incorrect about this Kevin. There was no question about "victory" at some kind of celebrity jury trial. The trial was over, and he had already plead guilty. The problem was the DA and judge in the case were grandstanding, intending to incarcerate him for much, much longer than you or I (and of course neither you nor I would ever be in this kind of situation) would have ever received. A non-famous person facing those same charges would have faced a much lighter sentence - there is no question about that. OTOH, I think that if you or I faced the kind of corrupted legal system that Polanski faced, we both would have tried to run also, assuming we had his money and connections to make it work. I don't feel sorry for Polanski, his trauma at the hands of the Nazis and the brutal murder of his pregnant wife I am sure contributed to his decadent lifestyle, but in no way excuse it. I am the father of two daughters and if he had done that to one of them he would not have to worry about running way from corrupt court officers, because I would have killed his horny ass. However, having grown up in Los Angeles and seeing the corrupt and incompetent legal system over and over again convict innocent people, let guilty people go free, and generally undermine any credibility that public justice might try to claim, I do think it is important for them to try and get some of these things right once in a while. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
