It looks like you are moving to Linux and I think it will be easier for you to run native Linux apps. Ripping audio under Linux is nothing new and using Wine is a half measure, I wonder if there is anything that EAC does that can not be done natively. If you require gui interface try K3B (sudo apt-get install k3b* or use synaptic package manager), but also give a try to command line scripts. My favourite is crip, it has some classical music tweaks so it might be not the one you want. Another one is ripit, just insert the CD, hit couple of enters and you are done. Both are avaliable via synaptic. Both of the scripts (I believe K3b also) use cdparanoia to extract data and you have options how many repeatable reads you want in case there are read errors.
