As a linux noob myself, this strikes me as an odd direction to take
(your movement toward linux). From everything I read, discussions with
IT folks, etc., Linux (of any flavor) seems to be an OS that is for
people who like to tinker, like to use obscure command line language,
and are very comfortable with this sort of thing. For simple, it seems
a windows install on your computer would be the most plug and play
option.
