Hi Carlo,
Enjoyed the little debate. Re Char Anim and that I am and I am sure others
are interested to hear your and other listers thoughts on this matter. Keep
the thoughts coming.
While I have your ear - You mentioned at some stage that you were also
working on a Char Anim tool - that is more advanced or featured than
Realmoca / Skeldia - any news on this?
Were is Realmoca / Skeldia gone to - does it work any longer with ver 5?
What new nuggets re char anim do you have in store if any - tantalise us a
little if you can :)
Cheers
Aidan

Hi Aidan,
By Officially integrated - I meant Import / Export, maybe I used the
wrong words. So we agree on that. But is this above statement a bit
elitist - is it not. To say RS should have nothing to do with other apps
- these days no app is an island. You have specialist apps like Vue and
Bryce and

That's a different word indeed, also, when i say about 'nothing to do' i
mean that first an application should have it's own features to do some
things, and than one can think of sharing data between other apps in case
user is not satisfied (Or for some other reason).
Are they not going to discover this any way. Please give them more credit
than this. I am not trying to bash Realsoft into the ground, quiet the

Agree, all us want to see it grow, and i agree with the constructive critics.
mmm .... I think you may get some alternative opinions aired re this one
Carlo. May I say - you are now knocking other apps here, the very thing
you preached against earlier [ too much 'enfatized' standalone (And not)
3d apps.].
I'm speaking about Realsoft3D, this is the Realsoft3D's mailing list. And
please, don't start this cycling words, my 'knocking' was not meant the
way you think.
"Enhanced Sub D Modelling and texturing make this a viable alternative to
better known 3D illustration apps. Still weak at Character Animation however".
Yes, we know that character animation area need more, and as i said, we
will have more.
Anyway - Carlo - this is healthy. Any of the above that I have said is by
way of debate and by no means an attack on YOU or Realsoft. I hope you
take my replies in the spirit given and long may robust argument be a
feature of the RS list and IRC - it is part of what I love about this
community,
Hey, don't say absolutely this, none of us think that you are attacking
something or someone. Debating is a good way to express things, and like
you, i've only expressed my personal opinion.

Hi all,
While it may be great to share ideas and some different workflow between
different 3d apps, i found it a little controversial.
New users reading this list can get a bad vision of what Realsoft3D can
do and what not.
If possible, try to be more constructive about Realsoft3D itself instead
of say that this software is better than this one and so on.
I think RS and PM together has great possibilities. Even more so if
they ever got more officially integrated,
Wrong point, Realsoft3D for me should have nothing to do directly with
PM nor with any other 3d apps, maybe a good import/export feature are welcome.
While lacking of some important features (I'm sure we will have them
implemented shortly), the Realsoft3D's animation system is powerful
enough to compete with those too much 'enfatized' standalone (And not) 3d apps.
Just my opinion.

Carlo Lanzotti

Hi Jean,
More to the point where were all you character animation heads when I
have been popping mails up every so often about the need for improved
char anim features in RS? [ Had to get the dig in :) ]
So you use PM with models from RS? Any way to point us at some
animations you have done. I for one would be interested to hear your
workflow and thoughts on this. Matthias has already added his thoughts,
much appreciated.
If RS had focused character animation features like PM - wow - then no
need for any other app. I love RS for Modelling and I like the finished
renders. I am not too aggrieved at the render times, they feel ok to me.
Good to hear from another RS / PM user. Hints, Tips and tricks always
appreciated AND if possible added to the WIKI. Import / Export.
I think RS and PM together has great possibilities. Even more so if
they ever got more officially integrated,
Cheers

Wow, how many peoples are already using projectmessiah besides me?
(here on
the realsoft newsletter)
I model in realsoft.
I texture in UVMapperPro.
I sleep on my chair.
I animate and render in messiahworkstation.
I don't understant why some people want to animate in messiah and export
back to realsoft or any other package.
Messiah is a standalone software now?
My main concern about chosing an application now is only rendering time.
To equal the rendering time of Messiah with Realsoft it would cost me 10
000$ in computer.
I think that since all 3D application are basicaly the same (more or
less).
I mean you can do almost anything you can think of.
The only difference worth noticing is rendering time.
The choice of a renderer is a cheaper solution than buying better
computer.
Pure raytracing is the best method. One day it will be the only
methode used
(when cpu cycles won't matter). Maybe Realsoft should ofer a temporary
Hybrid-Method (Scanline-Raytracing).
I have abandoned Shade because the rendering times are too long.
I have never used Realsoft for rendering because it is too long (even
preview rendering).
With ProjectMessiah I do 20 times more test rendering.
That means a lot more control over the final image.
The main problem of Realsoft as many other applicatoin is not
animation, it
is rendering time.
