Today it started working. That is, I had OOo closed and when I went to launch it I got a notification that there was an update available. Unfortunately, the install routine seems to be broken. I clicked on Install, and then it told me OOo needed to be closed in order to install the update - and did I want to continue? I clicked on Yes, it closed OOo, and that was it.
